Hello , I hope you have had a good week and life has been kind to you. It has been an eventful week for us and, at the time of writing this, everything
is still in turmoil regarding our move (see below). However, tomorrow is another day. Retreat The Pilates, Mindset and Mindful Retreat last weekend was a lovely experience and it was
fantastic to have the company of six wonderful women. Wendy and I thoroughly enjoyed sharing the day with them all and now I will look forward to the the new year when we have more retreat days planned. A Fitting
Goodbye The Queen’s funeral was a day full of pageantry that we have grown to expect in this country. People coming together to celebrate the life of our monarch, and experiencing and sharing an emotional response to events is a thing to behold. But now, as with everything, life goes on and we have King Charles III in place, I wonder if
things will change significantly … it will be interesting to see. Pilates Classes Week Beginning 26 September Face-to-Face Classes As
things do just carry on, face-to-face classes will run as normal this week, except for Friday’s Old Woodhouse classes, as the hall will be used for their yearly MacMillan Coffee Morning, which means our two classes there cannot run. They will continue the following week. Online Classes The Online Class timetable returns next week with live classes … links as usual on the members jtp.zone website. I have to say though, that fingers will be crossed that classes run without any hitches, as one of our problems with the move is getting BT to install
Broadband. They were supposed to be arriving today … but at the time of writing we have just been told that installation will not now happen until 7 October! Keith has got a temporary WiFi set up and he is very confident that it will be fine, so I am hoping this is the case, and he is right! This week I am demonstrating a classic Joseph Pilates exercise — the Swan
Dive. I demonstrate and teach variations on the original Joseph Pilates version in all my classes, and here I demonstrate just one of those variations. This is a great postural exercise for upper back and shoulders, but for those who struggle to lie in
this prone position, it is possible to modify and perform from an alternative starting place. I do kneel in the video to show which muscles are moving and working and this position can make it achievable for those who cannot lay face down. As with
every Exercise Of The Week, work appropriately for your own body, and keep away from pain. Work appropriately for your body, keep away from pain, and if you would like more advice, please contact me directly. As it has been a challenging week to say the least for me and Keith, by Friday I was feeling a bit broken and vulnerable. But when
my friend (and yours) Jenny, sent this quote to me, it reminded me of how we can get through tough moments. So I want to share it with you, just in case you have been feeling the same: Do not trust the way you see yourself when your mind is turbulent and remember that even pain is temporary. Honour your boundaries, treat yourself gently, let go of perfection, and feel your emotions without letting them control you. You have enough experience to face the
storm and evolve from it Yung Pueblo In the end, I am grateful that Keith and I have our physical health and we will be ok, and this stressful time for us will pass. Have a great week folks, and I look forward to seeing you in class. Remember to follow us on Facebook — Twitter —
