I saw an article in the week which was describing an elderly lady who had lost her sight and was having to move into a care home.
Her daughter took her in to the home and found her room, and even before she had time for a description of the room, her Mother said I love it, I’m going to be really happy here!.
The daughter said, but Mum I haven’t even described it to you
yet.
Her Mum said You don’t have to, I have made my mind up I am going to be happy here.
To quote Abraham Lincoln Most folks are about as happy as they make their minds up to be, and I guess that the lady in the story had just made her decision that no matter what, she was going to be fine.
Happiness comes in many different forms, everyone has their own thoughts about happiness and what makes them happy, and while we can’t always choose everything that happens to us, we can choose how to respond, and no matter what happens, our response is within our control. When we start to truly accept and live in the here and now. that's when we can hit the
happiness response.
Remember — the past is history, the future is a mystery, here and now is the present. Is that why its called present? Being in the present moment is the gift.
Happy Christmas everyone,
Lots of love and thanks
