I hope the first week of the new year has been a good one for you, now its onwards and upwards as we head towards Spring … hurrah!
My Not So Good News
I feel quite relieved to have got through the Christmas period, as I have been unwell. I started to feel ill in the week leading up to Christmas, and was fortunate enough to see my GP really quickly. A long story short, he did blood tests, referred me to hospital, and I was dealt with very
quickly. Can’t fault the NHS at all, however, the symptoms have continued with no solutions. In case you are reading this over breakfast, I won’t go into detail, but it is a gastric problem, so I wasn’t able to enjoy any of the Christmas food and treats we indulge in, and couldn’t and didn’t really feel able to leave the house. We had our usual visitors, but my energy and strength levels were so low because I wasn’t able to eat much, and was in quite a lot of pain. The hospital sent me home with
no results and want me back in at some point for further tests. As a consequence I am still feeling weak and wobbly. I did teach my Saturday Morning Movement class online yesterday, as a bit of a test really, but then had to rest.
Pilates Classes
Week beginning 9 January
So 2023 has begun with a bit of a false start for me… and I have decided that I have to delay the start of my own face-to-face classes at Quorn for another week, so I have postponed until Monday 16 January. Unfortunately, I was also covering Jenny’s classes this week in Rempstone, so these will also be delayed
by a week, and Jenny will be back to teach on Thursday and Friday 19/20 January. And of course an extra week will be added onto this block for these cancelled classes.
I can only apologise as I realise
this is disappointing for those who attend those classes, I am disappointed too, but I just wouldn’t be able to teach to a level I would be comfortable with for lots of both physical and mental reasons, and to a level that you want in order to get the most out of your Pilates.
I should stress that classes at Old Woodhouse and Loughborough are not affected by this and will continue as normal this week.
None of us can plan for illness, and as a good friend said to me — if it was a broken leg, no-one would question it. Just because it cannot be seen doesn’t mean its less important, and doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t take the time to heal.
Of course she is right. Those who are affected by this will have received an email and a text message to confirm the details.
Online
classes — I am planning to teach these classes, as I don’t have to leave the house, which makes it easier for me, and if there is a problem with any class this will be notified on the website and a pre-recorded class will be put in its place.
