Hello , I hope you have had a good week, avoided the rain and managed to catch the rays when they appeared. Firstly a little bit of
housekeeping... We are into our Summer holiday mode now, and face-to-face classes are following the Summer Timetable. This is always a quieter time for Pilates, as we have to fit classes around Coach holidays and also venue closures. Venues often use
this time for maintenance and sprucing up, but also lots of children’s groups start to book halls for summer schools etc. So it does make it challenging to fit in all of our classes that we promise you. For example — Bank Holidays. Our year begins at the beginning of September and runs to the end of August the following year, and we generally know when Bank Holidays are and which classes they affect, so this is all taken into account when we timetable our 34 classes for each class in each venue, so you don’t need to worry — nobody misses out. PLUS if you know you are going to miss a class due to your own holidays there is the Catchup System. Extended periods of time out eg, four weeks or more which could be due to injury, surgery, extended trips, and so on can also be sorted for you so you don’t have to lose your space in class — you just need
to contact us in advance so we can organise that for you. I should also add that everyone who attends face-to-face classes with us has access to all the online
classes, both Recordings (which are available on demand, 24/7), and Live classes (Monday through to Saturday). It’s really easy to achieve continuity with your Pilates practice, and its definitely the
best way to benefit from Pilates, so I aim to make this possible for you. Pilates Classes Week Beginning 17 July There are no Face-to-Face Classes this week. As discussed earlier, all Coaches are either on holiday, or the venue is closed. I won’t be teaching Live Online Classes this week either, but I have selected 6 Recorded Classes and put the links appropriately on the timetable on the members' jtp.zone for you to follow through. I will be back Live Online from Monday 24 July with a bang, as my 6 week summer programme of Pilates with Weights also starts on that day. Pilates with Weights My Summer programme of Pilates with Weights, will run for 6 weeks, every Monday at 6.30pm — Live in Zoom. All classes will be recorded so if you can’t make it Live you will still be able to do the class at a better time for you, but also you can repeat it throughout the week. It will be a progressive course of classes, aiming to build stamina and strength over the 6 weeks. What you will need are two hand weights — don’t go too heavy to begin with — a set of 1kg weights will be enough. You will be able to do all movements without weights. And bottles of water or cans of vegetables
are good replacements. This Pilates with Weights course is free to all JTP members ie, face-to-face classmembers, or online classmembers. If you can’t find your password and username for the jtp.zone just get in touch so we can remind you. If you don’t currently attend classes but would like to do this course, get in touch by email (just Reply to this Newsletter) so we can send details of cost and class links. I look forward to seeing
you. This week I am sharing some modifications for side-lying exercises. There are lots of reasons why side-lying can be difficult
— it could be arthritis in the hips, osteoarthritis, hip replacements, bursitis. It's still important to work the lateral muscle slings, so here are a few of the modifications/alternatives that will help you to reach the same muscles without the discomfort of
lying on the hip joint. These are some examples of the modifications and alternatives I use in my online classes, and also in my face-to-face classes. Work appropriately for your body and keep away from pain. If you have any questions about any of the Exercises Of The Week please contact me. This week’s Your Whole Self is about self-care in terms of finding and giving joy. When we
show appreciation, show our thanks to others, we generate shared joy, and when we are present in the shared joy it really can boost how we think, feel and act. This section is called Your Whole Self because I always aim to share suggestions regarding self-care that work for me, and while this week I am still focusing on this, I wanted to talk about how sometimes we can find happiness and joy by helping others find theirs, and the knock-on positive effects on ourselves when others share their happiness with us. For example, it's a fabulous feeling to share the joy of our best friends when they get a good result, a new job, doing something that makes them happy. We celebrate with them, and that in turn will make us feel good. Sending someone an unexpected gift or bunch of flowers to show appreciation is a way of sharing joy and that in itself will help others find theirs. It can be something as simple as thanking someone, or showing appreciation for what they may have done for you, or even that they show up for you. It could be thanking the woman/man on the checkout at the supermarket, or thanking your work colleagues for being supportive — but that simple show
of appreciation can make the difference to the way they feel. Who doesn’t feel the joy when seeing our grandchildren or children’s faces when they achieve something for the first time, pass an exam, get their degree, get married… their joy helps us
find ours. My joyous share for this week’s Your Whole Self is to hand out joy whenever we can. It makes a difference to others, and to us. Have a great week folks, With love Jane xx Remember to follow us on Facebook — Twitter —
