After taking a week off I have been reminded about how much movement means to me, and how it affects me mentally if I am not
physically active.
I realise that some people are absolutely fine without any exercise in their daily lives but for me it makes me feel alive. If I am worrying about something, or my mind feels full so
I can’t think clearly, or if I feel tired, frustrated, if my mood is low or I feel irritable, everything changes once I have moved my body.
It can feed my energy levels, I feel stronger, it gives me
headspace… I make the best decisions when I have exercised, it just gives me clarity.
Walking is obviously the cheapest and easiest way to get moving, even walking in the rain (which I did yesterday)
can lift the spirits. The physical benefits of raising the heart rate, getting the lungs expanding, and moving with low impact sometimes overshadow the mental benefits.
If we focus on what we want from
exercise such as feeling good about ourselves and shifting the mind set to a more positive place, then we start to commit more to staying active and bringing movement into our daily lives.
It definitely
works for me, and even taking 5 minutes out of the day that takes you away from whatever is filling your mind, or from the jobs you have set out to do, will make such a difference to how you feel when you return to those jobs … you will feel more motivated, be more productive, and feel happier about the space you find yourself in.
Take five minutes today and do the Exercise Of The Week … it will make a difference.
Have a great week folks, remember to move daily and let your mind move with you.
With love
