For those of you who attended one of my Retreats last year you will be aware of the Life Pie, and the exercises we did during the
Retreat which were aimed at helping us live a more conscious life.
So what does this mean? To me living a more conscious life is about being more present. It's about being in the moment and recognising
the areas of life that we feel need more effort and time, and those areas of life that actually feel pretty good.
Being more present doesn’t mean that we can’t plan ahead for the future, it's about
discovering what it is we need to introduce or reject in order to find more balance and feel happier, more content, more at ease, with how we are living and spending our time.
I would like to share ‘My Life Pie’ with you so here is the link for you to print off a template for your personal use.
Once you have printed this off, you will see there are 8 pieces of pie, and each piece focuses on one area of your life:
- Health and Wellness
- Family and Friends
- Relationships
- Money
- Time Out
- Adventure
- Passion Projects
- Work (things that have to be done)
The first thing to do with your Life Pie is to grade each section out of 10 to discover where you feel full — so 8/9/10
out of 10, OR where you feel not much is going on so could be anything below 5 out of 10.
The next step is to think about why, what is happening, and what you want to do to make some changes? The aim
always to achieve a better balance so that your life feels more balanced, because when things are out of balance is when we don’t feel we can operate and function at our best. Each area will have a knock-on effect to the others, good and bad.
As an
example when looking at your Life Pie, your Family and Friends section might be full 9/10 even 10/10 and on the surface this is great … however if your Time Out and Health and Wellness are scoring low it may be because all of your time is being given away to friends and family leaving nothing in the tank for your own self-care. No time for exercise for example, or no time to just sit and read a book or take yourself off for a day, so you end up feeling tired, at worst exhausted and
resentful.
Working on your Life Pie can be a weekly event, a check in to see how you are doing, but also provides an opportunity to set out goals, things that we can do to achieve more balance, otherwise it's easy to just keep going without realising
the effects on our wellness.
In June I will be introducing a Life Pie online programme. This will give an opportunity to devote some time to yourself and how you live your life. If you want to live a more conscious life, and you want to make some
changes and inject some balance then I hope you will be able to join me. More details to follow.
In the meantime, start to score your Life Pie and take a look at it and think how it makes you feel — if
you did this with me on one of my Retreats it will be interesting to see if things have changed or if things have slipped back into the same patterns.
I’m looking forward to getting started, and hope
you will join me.
Have the best of weeks!
With love,
Jane xx
