I think it’s safe to say I have had a bit of a challenging week with technology. When we rely on outside factors that we have little or no control over its very difficult, when it doesn’t work as we want it to, not to let it affect us.
This was me at the start
of the week, my wifi didn’t want to work in my Pilates Pod on Monday, so in order to teach my online classes I had to divert to a different signal and in this case it was my phone. Without wanting to bore everyone, I usually film the class on my phone which I then edit before I upload it, so every part of my routine was thrown off course.
I felt that it affected me for the whole day — my classes, my teaching, how I was feeling — and also it made me anxious about what
would happen the next day, and the next with my online classes. The anxiety affected me so much that by Wednesday evening I felt pretty exhausted.
It taught me that I need to have alternatives for these kind of situations, I need to expect that things won’t always go to plan and therefore I should have a plan B.
And if we think about things this is often the case, things don’t always go to plan, so its important to practise being more flexible so that
we don’t end up feeling how I did in the week. We can develop a more flexible mindset and be able to go with the flow if we start with things that aren’t too important — for example if we always take the same route, maybe change it from time to time without planning it. Or if you usually do the same meal with the same ingredients, change it and swap in something different.
Like Pilates, we can practise becoming more flexible, and in turn we find more stability, so
instead of being knocked off balance when things don’t go to plan, we tune into our flexible mindset, change route and choose a different option.
Have a great week folks, keep moving, keeping looking and feeling good.
With love
Jane xx
