Hello , And… it’s December! As if the weather hadn’t already told us… BRRRRRR!!! So put the heating on, light the fire, put your Pilates gear on and do an online class to give your mind, body and spirit a warm hug — there are hundreds available on the jtp.zone, and you can do as many as you like — there is no limit!
Pilates Classes Week Beginning 4 December All Face-to-Face
Classes are running as normal this week — follow the link at the bottom of this Newsletter, or at the bottom of the website, to see the timetable. This is the last full week of classes before the Xmas break, although some classes will run in week starting 11 December. As her classmembers know, Jenny’s Thursday Rempstone Village Hall class last week had to be cancelled at short notice, and the replacement class is on Thursday 14
December. Online Classes (timetable link also at the bottom of each Newsletter and the bottom of the website) are running as normal too. Week 4 class of the Pilates and Your Whole Self programme is on Monday at 6.30pm, and this week it will be a Mindful Pilates session.
This week I am sharing a variation of a clam. The clam is a classic exercise to work the lateral rotators in the hip joint, kicking nicely into the gluteals, but doing this variation will make it feel different and challenge the core more. I show modifications, so choose the level appropriate for your body and don’t
push through pain. If you have any questions, remember where I am.
Let’s look at kindness this week. When thinking about and talking about being kind, it’s generally how we behave, how we act, how we treat others. But what about being kind to ourselves? Do we speak to ourselves with kindness? Is the tone of the conversations we have with ourselves in our heads, the same as the tone we use when we
talk to our friends, our family?
My bet is that we don’t. We are our own worst critics, and it can be small things such as if someone compliments your hairstyle, an automatic response might be, oh it needs washing, or I need it cutting … and you might look at yourself in the mirror and already be thinking my hair needs washing or cutting or whatever. BUT it can be something much bigger than this that we
think about ourselves and criticise ourselves about daily.
If your best friend came to you and started to say negative things about themselves, then immediately you would want to stop them, tell them how wrong they are and start to say differently. So why not be like this for yourself. The next time you find yourself thinking negatively, and the conversation you are having in your head is negative, start to
change the dialogue — flip it, think about what you would say to your best friend and start speaking to yourself in the same way. Be kind to yourself. Have a great week, keep looking, moving and feeling good.
