For someone who has to stand up in front of people to teach fitness, it probably doesn’t enter anyone’s head that this person could be quite shy, lack confidence, feel very self conscious and be an introvert. It takes a lot of energy and a lot of work on the mindset to get the headspace in the right place to enable this person to do this job.
So why
do it, why choose this job if everything about it means all of the above are being tested every day?
Its quite a common issue for people — people who put themselves in the public eye, say — as well as you and me.
It’s the bigger picture that pushes people through their feelings of inadequacy or that they can’t do it. It can be a belief, a passion; it can be anything from a desire to help people to a desire to educate or entertain people. If that
feeling is stronger, or if it can be made stronger by mindset work to help with confidence, then this is when it is possible to push through and do the job that fills you up and fills your heart.
It does feel like a constant battle though — and if you feel like this is sometimes how you feel, here are some things you can do to help:
- Find time to recharge batteries regularly — being an introvert means that being with people can be tiring, so finding some
time just for ‘you’ is key to getting those energy levels rebuilt
- Spend time with people who build you up, not bring you down — if your confidence/self-worth drops, you want people around you that support you
- Focus on the WHY — why you do what you do? And what that gives you, how that feeds you?
- Journal — make a note of when you aren’t feeling too confident and if there could be a reason — as some days are better than others — confidence isn’t a constant.
- Press
the pause button in your mind — stop the demon ego from chatting and telling you ‘you can’t do it’. Remember that these are thoughts — they are not real!
- Journal — AGAIN — make a note of your wins from the day, small or large — things you have done that you enjoyed, and that helped you to do what you do
- Always wear clothes you love, colours that you love — this will make a difference to how you feel
- Get rest, sleep, and eat well — rest is vital for
recharging.
Nothing is constant, everything is moving, some days are ok, some days aren’t so good, I hope that the above will help you if you are navigating your life with challenges to your confidence and self-worth.
Have a good week — keep moving, looking, and feeling good.
With love from
