I am looking at making September all about Self Care, and so let’s begin with:
Movement and Mindset
When it comes to taking care of ourselves, movement and mindset are like the ultimate tag team. They work together, boosting each other up to keep us feeling fab, inside and
out.
Movement
Movement is so much more than “exercise”. It’s about finding the fun in what your body can do! This could be dancing in your kitchen, going for a leisurely walk, or enjoying a Pilates session (my personal favourite!). Movement keeps muscles strong, joints happy, and our mind sharp.
But there is the added bonus of endorphins. These are magical mood-boosters that can lift your mood.
Movement doesn’t have to be intense or perfect to make the difference: it’s all about moving in ways that feel good to you.
Mindset
So a positive mindset isn’t just thinking happy thoughts — it’s about showing up for yourself with curiosity, gratitude, and self-compassion. If you put this together with regular movement, it’s the secret ingredient to feeling good. On those days when you are searching for motivation, a positive
mindset can be the gentle nudge you need to get up and get moving. Then when you do move, you’ll often find your mindset shifts too, making it easier to tackle whatever life throws your way.
How do we make this happen?
Getting started can be the most challenging bit. But by setting and committing to small, doable goals — like a 10-minute stretch or a quick stroll around the block, things start to
change.
Then add in a bit of mindset practice, such as jotting down something you’re grateful for each day, and noting what you have achieved and how you feel. You are beginning to build good habits that work together and create a feel-good cycle that’s hard to beat.
Remember, it’s not just ‘fine’ to have self-care, it’s a ‘must’ and it needs work and practice. By moving your body and nurturing your mind, you’re investing in a happier, healthier you.
So take a deep breath, and get moving. Your future self will definitely thank you!
Have a great week folks — keep moving, looking and feeling good.
WIth love
