Blink, and suddenly we are at the end of February — can you believe it?
During the last two months, I have been laying some foundations for wellbeing, focusing on the little things that make a big difference — nourishing food, self-care, and the rest that our bodies crave.
As we come to the end of these first two ‘chapters’
of the year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the areas we have been exploring and look ahead to what’s next — a time of renewal, energy and fresh movement.
So here’s what we have covered so far as part of Everyday Essentials:
- Nourishment, not restriction: in January I was taking a look at diet and nutrition, not in a rigid, rule-heavy way but in a way that helps us fuel our bodies with care. I didn’t want to focus
on cutting things out, but adding in the things that make us feel good, supporting our movement and keeping us energised — eating to thrive, not just to survive, including hydration
- Self-care isn’t selfish: at the start of the year I wanted to remind you that looking after yourself is a necessity, not a luxury. It could mean taking a moment to breathe, setting boundaries, or allowing yourself to rest without guilt. Self-care is at the centre of
our wellbeing. The smallest of acts of kindness towards yourself ripple into every part of life.
- Rest & Sleep — your secret superpowers: I continue to focus on self-care in February, and the importance of rest and how much we all need it. Even elite athletes have rest days planned into their training, we cannot perform at our best without adequate rest and time to relax. Understanding how good sleep supports our movement and mood, and
discovering ways to unwind and switch off, its about making space for proper rest. Sleep isn’t about downtime, it’s a vital part of feeling and moving well.
Now it’s time to start looking ahead and as March and Spring approaches we know it’s a time for renewal. Nature is starting to stretch awake from the winter and that means we can too. March brings a shift of energy, a time to shake off sluggishness, step outside and embrace movement with a fresh purpose. It’s not
about big, dramatic changes; it’s about gently waking up, finding new momentum, and reconnecting with what makes us feel alive.
My aim over the coming weeks, is to explore:
- how movement can bring fresh energy into our lives
- simple ways to refresh our routines without overwhelm
- mindset shifts to help us step into spring with confidence and vitality.
As we step into Spring, it might be a good time to take a moment to reflect and
think about one small change that you feel has made a difference for you so far this year. Maybe it’s drinking more water, stretching before bed, or simply giving yourself permission to rest when you need it.
Wherever you are, know that you’re exactly where you need to be. Let’s welcome the weeks ahead with curiosity, kindness, and a little spring in our step!
Have a great week everyone — keep looking, moving and feeling good.
With
love
Jane xxx
