Hello , I hope you have had a good week, bringing an end to February for 2025, and are you feeling ready to move on from the hibernation of Winter? I think it’s safe to say we are all ready for a reboot and a recharge, as we dare to think we are getting ready for Spring. Let’s just whisper it for
now…
The JTP Book Club Welcome to a brand, new addition to the Newsletter this week — the JTP Book Club. I love reading, and sometimes I like to move away from my work reading about the body,
nutrition, research into movement and so on, and I love a good story. So once a month I will post about a book I have either read myself OR one that is recommended by the JTP family — so I invite you to join in and make some suggestions about a book that you have read with a short — one paragraph — synopsis about the book and why you enjoyed it (or didn't!).
The book I have read recently which I enjoyed is The Housemaid by Freida McFadden. It is a psychological thriller, with twists and turns, a bit predictable in parts, but if you like something that keeps you on the edge of your seat then you may like this — I should add, it's not gruesome! Happy
reading everyone.
Pilates Classes Week Beginning 3 March Most Face-to-Face Classes are back this week, kicking
off with Jane on Monday at Old Woodhouse. Mary will be using soft balls in her classes for this block, so if you have one of your own please take it along to class, if you don’t have one don’t worry as we do have a few extras that can be used. Jenny will be using hand weights in her classes, so if you don’t have a pair of hand weights, you can use cans of vegetables/beans or bottles of water. Please note there are no
classes at Old Woodhouse on Friday 7 March, as Jane is away for the weekend. Live Online Classes return on Monday, however, Jane will also not be teaching live for Friday 7 March Kickstart Xtra or Saturday 8 March Morning Movement — Recorded classes are on the timetable to cover those two days.
Join me this week for a Spring awakening Pilates flow designed to help you remove the stiffness and sluggishness that creeps in during the winter months. This is a gentle, feel-good flow to wake up the mind and body and shake off the winter slump. As with every Exercise of the Week,
work appropriately for your body, keep away from pain, and message me with any questions you may have.
I hope we are all welcoming March and feeling that we are ready to recharge for Spring. It definitely starts to feel like a shift when the mornings are getting brighter, the air feels fresher and there is a little spark inside whispering could this be it … are we moving away from the winter? It has felt at times that winter has had us in
hibernation mode for months, with lots of sofa time, less motivation to get moving, extra layers both for our body and also our energy levels. Basically it’s quite natural to feel sluggish or stiff as we come out of the old season into the new. But we don’t need to jump into Spring at full speed: we can start with a gentle reboot, to wake up the mind and body without shocking the system. We can take a leaf out of nature’s book and not rush things. So if you
feel like you have been stuck on the sofa, stuck in a mindset, stuck in a rut, here’s what we can do to gently reboot: - Changing the language eg, I should exercise mindset to I want to move
- Introduce some feel-good stretching to open up and energise (see this week’s Exercise of the Week)
- Introduce some breath work which helps to clear out the cobwebs — even better to step outside for this, or throw
open a window and feel the freshness.
- Talking of heading outside — get outside and move, the fresh air is free energy.
This week my intention is to share some simple ways of shaking off the sluggishness and ease into Spring with movement, breath and a little bit of joy. Starting with this week’s Exercise of the Week, I promise you will feel instantly lighter if you start to introduce this into
your day. Have a good week everyone — keep looking, moving and feeling good as we ease into Spring. With love Jane xxx
