This week I want to raise awareness about ‘value’ — are you valuing YOU?
It’s time to get honest: where do you sit on your own priority list?
Possibly somewhere between ‘sorting the clothes to be washed’ and ‘cleaning out the kitchen cupboards’. Do you tend to squeeze things in for
yourself ONLY after everything else is done? OR does this sound familiar — ‘I’ll rest/eat better/exercise tomorrow — I’ll have a bit more time because things will have calmed down a bit’, only to discover exactly the same happening the next day.
I’ve had a bit of a week of that, so I know exactly how easy it is to get distracted away from the things that will actually help. So on Friday afternoon, even though I was feeling quite tired, and even though I had this Newsletter to
write, emails to answer, research to do for one of the JTP family — I took myself off for a swim. When I got back I felt so much better — refreshed, lighter, energised, and everything felt much easier to do.
It feels like we live in a world that praises being busy, productive, doing it all and if that isn’t enough, doing it all with a smile. But what if the real value was in how well we look after ourselves, while ‘life’ does its thing?
I’m not talking about
expensive facials, or green juices — both very nice of course — but I’m talking about your health, your wellbeing, your energy, and your ability to live the life you want to live. Because how you treat yourself sends a message to your brain, your body, your heart, about what you think you are worth. It’s about recognising that your wellbeing isn’t a “nice to have” or a reward for being good.
It’s foundational. It's the platform for everything else.
Now, think
about your answers to these questions:
- do you value your time enough to pause and breathe?
- do you value your body enough to move it in ways that feel good?
- do you value your future self enough to make a small, loving choice today?
It’s not about guilt, it’s about awareness.
So — this week — start to think about what it would look like to act like your wellbeing matters: do you place value on your wellbeing? Just
putting it at the top of your list — just for a few minutes. You don’t have to change your life overnight, but you could change the way you value your health — with movement, with a good night’s sleep, with a nourishing meal, one mindful moment at a time. To coin a phrase, you really are worth it.
Have a lovely week everyone: remember to prioritise yourself even for just a few minutes every day, and keep looking, moving and feeling
good.
With love and support,
Jane xx
