Let’s get one thing straight—being a Pilates teacher isn’t just about turning up, rolling out a mat, counting repetitions, and telling you what side to lie on. It’s a job of the heart, of intention, of care… and (let’s be honest) a fair bit of behind-the-scenes juggling!
Teaching Pilates is one of the great joys of my life, but it’s also
something I take very seriously, because you, my lovely JTP family, matter. So here’s a little peek behind the scenes at what really goes into this role and why I show up with energy, encouragement, and a plan every time. OK sometimes the plan goes ‘off piste’ but it’s always there in my head.
1 Planning, Planning… and a Bit More Planning
Every class I teach is carefully considered. I plan sessions based on who’s in the room (or
on the screen!), what their bodies need that day, and how to progress over time. I adapt movements to meet people where they are — because we’re not all built the same, and that’s a beautiful thing.
2 You’re Always on My Mind
Client focus isn’t just a nice add-on — it’s everything. I’m always thinking about how you’re moving, how you’re feeling, and how I can support you better. Whether it’s adding a new variation or checking in
with how your knees felt after last week’s session, my brain is quietly whirring away with your wellbeing front and centre.
3 Motivation: Yours and Mine
Keeping you motivated is something I love doing — cheering you on when you progress an exercise, celebrating your wins (big and small), and helping you feel empowered in your body. But it also takes self-motivation to be the one who leads the energy in the room, even on days
when I’d quite like to stay under the duvet! And believe me when I say I do have the odd day like this.
4 Wearing All the Hats
Pilates teacher. Admin person. Social media scheduler. Newsletter writer. Class promoter. Booking system wrangler. Tech support for Zoom issues — well OK this is where Keith normally steps in. Sometimes I
wonder how many hats I’ve worn before my first cuppa! But this is all part of helping you stay connected to your Pilates and keeping the JTP community thriving.
5 Being the Best Version of Me
Ultimately, I always aim to show up as the best version of myself because I want to help you do the same. Whether it’s a gentle mobility class or a strength session with weights, my aim is to make you feel seen, supported, and stronger in
body and mind.
So the next time you join me for class, know that I’m right there with you — heart and soul. Not because I have to, but because I love to. Teaching Pilates isn’t just a job. It’s a privilege.
Thanks for being part of it 🧡
With love and support,
Jane xxx
