| Hello Everyone
Hi
The new dates for the full timetable for our new 2015-2016 year have already been emailed out to you, as this is the last week of the summer classes.
|
These dates are also up on the website (under the Appointments & Classes tab) so you can check them at any time. Although we have set these dates, I am sure you will appreciate that we have to allow for a little flexibility due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness, venues changing dates, extreme weather conditions etc. Our aim will be to stick to these dates as far as possible
though.
You will also be aware of a small increase in price this year for those of you who are part of our Monthly Payment Scheme. This increase is to cover the inevitable increases in our expenses. One big change is for those signing up to one of our Absolute Beginners Courses as this time you will also be able to sign up to the Monthly Payment Scheme which will decrease the cost and ensure your space in class. This means there has never been so good a time to
start Pilates as now: so feel free in recommending us to anyone — friend, family, workmate, sworn enemy — to start Pilates with us...
There are some changes to class instructors as part of the new timetable. As you all know, Josie will not be teaching group classes from September. She will continue to see individual clients at the studio though, so it's not goodbye thankfully. Helen will be taking over her group classes at Quorn and Rosebery Street, so all of Josie's
classes needn't worry, as they are in Helen's very capable hands.
There are also some inevitable changes to my classes. Helen will be taking over my Monday morning class at Quorn Village Hall, and Jenny will be taking over my Thursday evening classes at Rempstone Village Hall. This has been a very difficult decision for me and has been decided based on other Instructors' availabilities, and I am very confident that Helen and Jenny will easily take over and provide
you with fabulous Pilates classes following the Jane Thomas ethos of taking care of everyone in the group. I know they will bring their own fantastic unique style to the classes, but I also know they share my desire and passion to give you the best possible Pilates experience so you fully benefit from being part of our programme.
Our classes will be ever-more structured and progressive, and as a team of teachers we plan together to ensure that that is what
you will experience with us. To this end I will be making ‘guest’ appearances to teach and will cover those Monday morning and Thursday evening classes every now and again — so it doesn’t mean you won’t ever see me again.
Occasionally clients bring guests to my classes. For example, if they have friends or relatives staying, they
will invite them to class provided that there are spaces.
Last week a friend of a class participant was visiting again, a year after her last visit when she attended one of my classes — and she attended again this time. I thought I would share what she said to me at the end of the session, not because I am showing off, but because it was such a nice thing for her to say. She said Jane I wanted to thank you,
because I came to your class a year ago, and you inspired me to find a Pilates teacher where I live, and I now do Pilates every week and feel so much better for it.
It was a lovely thing to say and I was chuffed for her, because she is doing something which I know she will fully benefit from for the rest of her life, and because I really love Pilates.
So this week I wanted to celebrate quite simply... Pilates. This week I am taking you back to Christmas time in the JTP household where we practice Pilates even then!
One of my favourite sequences is the rolldown into push up and stretch. It provides so much for the body — mobility in the roll down, strength with the push up, stretch on the return. What more do you need to start your day off?
Do 5 repetitions of this sequence at the appropriate level for your body every morning this week and you will be amazed at how good you feel.
In the words of Joseph Hubertus Pilates:
A few well-designed movements, properly performed in
a balanced sequence, are worth hours of doing sloppy calisthenics or forced contortion.
Abso-blooming-lutely!
It's all about Pilates this week and how it can affect our mind, body and soul, so I am quoting Joseph again
here:
Physical fitness is: the attainment and maintenance of a uniformly developed body with a sound mind fully capable of naturally, easily, and satisfactorily performing our many and varied daily tasks with spontaneous zest and pleasure.
Because of my own experience in life, I have always approached
teaching Pilates as a method of exercise which looks at the bigger picture — exercising our bodies which will reflect how we move and live our every day lives.
So for me, Pilates was originally aimed at rehabilitation after knee surgery, then afterwards to enable me to continue to run without pain and without injury, but also to continue to work in the fitness industry which I felt passionate about.
This is my approach for my Pilates family — I want everyone who comes to one of our Pilates classes to feel they are benefiting from the exercises once they leave the room — in other words every day of their lives, doing what they love to do. Living their lives with zest and pleasure.
Everyone who was a member of Pilates classes with us at the end of the last course in July will have had a
round-robin email from us with a copy of our new 2015-2016 year's Course dates, as an invitation to re-join us for the new Courses — which all start the week beginning 7 September.
If you can't find the email, or if you have joined us over the summer, or are totally new to us and thinking of joining, you can find the classes on our website (look under the Appointments & Classes tab).
All days/times/venues of all our classes are also listed on the website with the course dates.
Similarly, Pilates Reformer class members have had an email with the 2015-2016 Reformer Course dates. These are also on the website, under the Pilates Reformer tab.
As Jane's already
mentioned, all these dates are what we plan. Events beyond our control may mean individual classes may be changed, but we will stick to the dates like glue otherwise.
So, What's Next?
Apart from letting you have the 2015-2016 new year's timetables, the emails are also to remind you that it is time to re-enrol in your classes.
Members of our Monthly Payment Scheme do not have to do anything, however — you will be automatically re-enrolled (a benefit of being in the Scheme) as your space in your class is guaranteed. You only need to contact us if you do not want
to re-enrol.
If you are not in the Monthly Payment Scheme, it is now the time to re-enrol (and pay) for your next Course. If you have not already re-enrolled, please just reply to one of the emails (or this one) to let us know and to arrange payment — otherwise you may lose your space in your class.
Remember though, that the
Monthly Payment Scheme remains the very best way to pay. It has so many benefits for you — not the least being you are automatically re-enrolled — and is the cheapest way of paying for your Pilates too.
Have a great week folks: stay fit, happy and healthy, and keep moving
freely.

Book Your Catchup Here...
|
If you know you will have to miss a class in your course for any reason, and would like to book a space in another
class instead, all you need to do is follow this link to book your Catchup
In the form you'll find there, simply tell us which exact class you are going to
miss, as well as as many alternatives for Catchups as possible. If you are looking for alternative classes to your own, remember that all our classes are listed on the website, under the Appointments & Classes tab.
Also, we can offer an alternative to matwork Catchups, in that if you have two Catchup classes, you can exchange these for a single Reformer class as your Catchup — if there is space. You need to
check this with us first though.

This Week's
Classes
Summer matwork classes are all running as planned this week.
Remember though that the Quorn Monday Absolute Beginners Class has been cancelled, there are no Wednesday evening classes (as Caroline is on holiday), the Friday evening Hathern classes have been merged into a single class at 6pm, and there is no matwork class on Saturday morning at Quorn.
Also, Monday's and Friday's Pilates Reformer classes are running,
but there is no class on Saturday.
This concludes the Summer Timetable classes.
Next Week's Classes
Next week — ie, from Monday 31 August to Saturday 5 September — we all have a week off from Pilates classes — there are no Pilates classes at all.
Our new year's timetable of classes then starts week beginning 7 September. There are lots of new classes starting up that week, as well as all the current classes.
