| Hello Everyone
Hi
What a fabulous weekend it has been take a look at this wonderful blue sky which I took on my return from my Sunday morning run … just wanted to share!

Our Neal's Yard Remedies Christmas Party is getting closer — 14th November, 2-4pm at Rosebery Street Medical Centre (there
is a car park), plus refreshments provided by Green’s of Loughborough.
Jo Round will be introducing us to Neal's Yard products at 2pm, then we will be able to sample some of the products under her guidance.
This week is the second part of my
Exercise Of The Week Knee Strengthening programme, and this week I am looking at a Shoulder Bridge to show how our knees can benefit from this exercise.
By maintaining alignment from hips, knees to ankles and by being mindful about how each muscle group functions with the exercise the shoulder bridge becomes a fantastic stability and strengthening exercise to
help protect the knees. It strengthens the feeder muscles into the knee joint, quadriceps, hamstrings and adductor muscles, as well as the gluteals for stability. It also teaches the muscle memory for alignment and balance.
Check where the feet are on the mat when you are performing this. Make sure they are in line and completely in contact, not rolling out to
the edge or balancing on the heels or toes. Make this part of your daily routine if you have niggles in your knees.
I like to feel healthy, I like to feel fit, and being active and eating healthy foods are a big part of my
life…
However, I am definitely not an all or nothing kind of woman! I say this because I also like to sit and watch a bit of tv, or take myself to bed and read a book or listen to music in the middle of the afternoon, or enjoy some chocolate, or a glass of wine, if that is what I think my mind, body and soul need. In fact, I would go so far as to say, that if I
didn’t let myself do those things I would be extremely unhappy and miserable — because I can remember a time when I didn’t allow myself to do those things and I wasn’t a happy being.
When I first entered the Fitness World, I wanted to look at the whole circle of health and wellbeing. The mind and body are intrinsically linked — if you are happy and feeling
nurtured you instinctively do those things which will make you physically well.
So next time you are feeling tired and frustrated because you have run out of time to do your daily exercise routine, put the kettle on, find your favourite book, make a cuppa and head to your bedroom, put your feet up and have a good read and enjoy your cup of tea… That would be
nettle tea of course!
Ahh, the internet. What a fine thing it is. When it works, that is. Ours has been playing up recently, and
it's proving a devil of a job to get it sorted.
It brings me to mind of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs (I mentioned it here a few months ago) which contemplates human needs as being on five main levels:
- self-actualization — cerebral things like creativity and problem-solving (the arts, for
example)
- esteem — confidence and self-esteem
- social needs — like family and friendship
- security — we need to know we are safe
- physiological — our most basic needs: food, water, air and so on.
Back in the day, that was true. What could be more basic than the needs of food, drink and breathing?
But life has moved on from Maslow (who first postulated his ideas back in 1943). That, after all, was back in the dark ages before the internet had even been dreamed
of. If he'd been alive today, and suffering from internet problems he would probably have adapted his theory somewhat.
So I've done it for him. If you're a lover of all things techno, I think you may agree with what I've done...
Have a fantastic week folks, stay fit, happy and healthy, look, move and feel
better. Jane, Keith and the team xxxx

Book Your Catchup Here...
|
If you know you will have to miss a class in your course for any reason, and would like to book a space in another
class instead, all you need to do is follow this link to book your Catchup
In the form you'll find there, simply tell us which exact class you are going to
miss, as well as as many alternatives for Catchups as possible. If you are looking for alternative classes to your own, remember that all our classes are listed on the website, under the Appointments & Classes tab.
Also, we can offer an alternative to matwork Catchups, in that if you have two Catchup classes, you can exchange these for a single Reformer class as your Catchup — if there is space. You need to check
this with us first though.

This Week's
Classes
As you'll see from the week's Calendar, all matwork classes and all Reformer classes are running as planned this week. All matwork classes are also in their correct venues. The two new Reformer classes (Mondays at 11.30am, and Thursdays at 12.30pm) are in full swing too — anyone wanting a free taster Reformer class should get in touch ASAP as spaces are almost
gone.
There are also some new Absolute Beginners Classes starting up (Tuesday 9.30am in Rempstone Village Hall, and Wednesday 6.00pm in Rosebery Street Medical Centre), so if you know of anyone who would benefit from regular Pilates (and who wouldn't, eh?) just forward this email and tell them to get in touch. This week is the ideal time to start doing Pilates, in a brand-new
Absolute Beginners Class — tell them that they can have a FREE TASTER CLASS, so they don't even have to spend a penny trying it out. All information is also on the website. Spaces have almost gone however — time is of the essence.
Next Week's
Classes
Next week — ie, from Monday 9 November onward — all classes (matwork and Reformer) are running as planned.
