Hello Everyone

Hi

For those of you who love Neal’s Yard Remedy products, I am holding a Neal’s Yard Remedy Christmas Party.
The Christmas Party is on the afternoon of Saturday 14th November at Rosebery Street Medical Centre, Loughborough.

Jo Round will be bringing her products for us to try and either treat ourselves or start doing some early Christmas shopping. I have used Neal's Yard Remedy products and absolutely love them, so I am really looking forward to the afternoon. If you would like to come along, email me directly by clicking or tapping here and book your space so I can send you an official invite. The afternoon will start at 2.00pm, and light refreshments will be available.

Celebration
It is the 15th anniversary today of Pilates changing from a trademark exercise method, to a generic one that can be used by anyone.

Prior to this court action you could only call yourself a Pilates teacher if you had been trained by Joseph Pilates himself, or his immediate team… or disciples as he referred to them.

It meant that instead of using the term "Pilates based…" to describe what someone does as a Pilates teacher, you could instead use the term “Pilates …”

I did my training to become a Pilates teacher prior to this court case being finalised, so when I first started up teaching Pilates I always had to say my classes were Pilates based matwork classes…

I wonder how Joseph Pilates would have felt about this result.

Exercise Of The Week
Exercise Of The Week this week is the Roll Up — a great exercise for strength and mobility and stretch.

In the video I show the full version, plus modifications so make sure you watch the whole video before you start to do it, and work at the appropriate level for your body. If you have problems with your lower back then the foundation level is the correct level for you to work at.

If you need further clarification please remember to ask in class.

Your Whole Self
Take some time this week to focus on your breath — just breathe, breathe deep into your stomach, and as you breathe in feel your stomach expand like a ball, then feel it collapse down as you breathe out.

Remember that — if all you are doing is shallow breathing — in the neck and chest — this will not be getting oxygen into your body.

We all need oxygen, it provides us with fuel for energy, so if you are currently feeling tired all the time, and feel like you are lacking in energy, start to practise breathing more deeply.

Take 30 seconds and practise. This is also a great time to try and relax and switch off from  ‘stuff’.

Enjoy, and practise with me. Here is the link.

Keith Here...
Jane and me were at a special gathering over the weekend. It was special because it was a gathering of over 300 fitness professionals from around the country — and one or two from other countries too — who came together for a fitness business seminar, to exchange ideas, meet up and share some guidance.

It was a fantastic weekend for us, we got a whole load of great ideas and knowledge which we will be able to bring into our business and benefit you all. We came home exhausted and ready to drop, but at the same time we are fired up with ideas. Expect Jane to be bringing lots of these ideas to her classes shortly, and passing these on to our Instructors for you all to share.

The point of me telling you this is that one of the presenters caught some of the action at the seminar in a video and Jane and me are on the video. As it was a fitness gathering, first order of the day to get us all going was a morning "rave"...

Jane and me (like naughty schoolchildren — always at the back of the room whenever we can get there first) were captured strutting our stuff. There's a still from the video below — that's us in the middle at the bottom:

Have a great week folks, stay fit, happy and healthy and keep moving freely.

The Important Stuff At The End
Book Your Catchup Here...
If you know you will have to miss a class in your course for any reason, and would like to book a space in another class instead, all you need to do is follow this link to book your Catchup

In the form you'll find there, simply tell us which exact class you are going to miss, as well as as many alternatives for Catchups as possible. If you are looking for alternative classes to your own, remember that all our classes are listed on the website, under the Appointments & Classes tab.

Also, we can offer an alternative to matwork Catchups, in that if you have two Catchup classes, you can exchange these for a single Reformer class as your Catchup — if there is space. You need to check this with us first though.

This Week's Classes

As you'll see from the week's Calendar, most matwork classes are not running this week, due to the half-term holiday. However the Friday 23 October morning classes in Old Woodhouse Hall are running, as is the Saturday 24 October Quorn class. However — please note — the Saturday Quorn class is in Rosebery Street Medical Centre due to unavailability of Quorn Village Hall.

Reformer classes are also in a lull period for the week.

Next Week's Classes

Next week — ie, from Monday 26 October onward — all classes (matwork and Reformer) return for the next course, and also there are extra FREE Taster Classes on throughout the week for Absolute Beginners, as well as a new Reformer course starting on Thursday 29 October). If you know anyone who would benefit from Pilates please let them know about these FREE Taster Classes. All information is on the website.
