Hello ,
Where has January disappeared to???
It seems to have raced by, and already I am noticing we are getting more hours of daylight. When I left home for the
Friday evening classes it was only just beginning to get dark — so Spring is on its way… Hoorah!
I want to take this opportunity to welcome all our new class members and studio clients to our JTP family. We will make it our business to provide you with the most effective and beneficial Pilates experience.
Louise Haworth is one of our regular class participants and she is taking part in the London Marathon, she feels that doing Pilates
with us has been beneficial to her running, so those of you who are new to us, we are here to help you achieve your goals… Welcome!
Above all, enjoy! Have a great week, look, move and feel good.

It seems like a lifetime ago, but when I was 40 I completed the London Marathon. It is such a fantastic event! People run the London Marathon for many, many reasons: personal, fit fitness, for family, for charities.
I always love it though when people do it for a
charity, and I offer support wherever I can.
This year, another one of the Jane Thomas Pilates clan is running it for the charity Diabetes UK. Now I know exactly how hard running a marathon is, and so I said that I would feature Louise in the Newsletter and let her tell you all about what she is doing. Here's Louise's story, in her own words:
When I ran the Edinburgh Marathon in 2013, I said it would be my first and
last! However, being a member of Barrow Runners has changed all that and when I realised how many of my fellow Club members were participating in the 2016 London Marathon, I just had to join them. Unfortunately, I was unsuccessful in getting a place in the Marathon Ballot, which is always hugely over-subscribed, and decided to try for a Charity Place. I was therefore delighted to be offered a place running for Diabetes UK particularly as my stepson Peter was diagnosed with Type 1
over 20 years ago, and several other relatives/friends also live with diabetes. In fact, a staggering 700 people are diagnosed with diabetes each day. In 2014 Diabetes UK invested £7 million in diabetes research and any donation you make will go towards ultimately finding a cure for the condition. I appreciate that there are many demands on your finances but would be extremely grateful for whatever donation you can make to help me achieve my target of £1,850.00 for Diabetes UK
(Charity Commission Nr. 215199). The link for my fund raising page is here. Alternatively, I do have a sponsor form for anyone who prefers not to donate on line. Now let the training begin!
Please everyone, do what you can to help Louise reach her target. Thank you.

Talking of running, one area which is crucial to our running is the hip girdle and the surrounding muscles. So this week I am showing you how to use a traditional Pilates exercise, the shoulder bridge, and by adding specific challenges to it we target the gluteals and therefore strengthen the
performance of the hips which drive our movement.
As with all our exercises you should work at the appropriate level for your body. Enjoy!

As I write this week's newsletter I am looking out of a window in Caffe Nero (other coffee houses do exist) in Leamington Spa. We have had a hectic few weeks since the start of January so we decided to have a “5 minute holiday”. I finished teaching yesterday, we packed our bags and
travelled to LS for a bit of retail therapy, nice meal, and a stay over… Nothing swanky — just a Premier Inn.
Woke up this morning ready to get through some of the work that goes on behind the scenes for JTP.
Sometimes being at home gives me reason for procrastinating from what needs to be done. I find cupboards to clean, washing to be sorted, cleaning to be done, wardrobes to clear out, windows to clean, ovens to clean — you name it, I can find
it to do if it means putting off the general admin and decision-making that needs to be done for JTP.
Being away from home is providing me with the space to get some important work done. It gives me a clear head, no distractions, no clutter, nothing to allow my flibbertigibbet of a brain to dash from one thing to another. I am focused, concentrated, and ready — so for your whole self this week, if you have something which needs to be done, and is hanging around in
your head because you have been putting it off, give yourself a 5 minute holiday, take yourself away — even if it's just for a couple of hours — and get it done.
You will feel so much better...

Book a Catchup
If you know you will have to miss a class in your course for any reason, and
would like to book a space in another class instead, just follow the link to book it.
Simply tell us the class you will miss and —most important — please give us as many alternatives as possible. If you only give us one alternative, we cannot guarantee you will get a Catchup.
Please also let us know if you will miss your class but don't want a Catchup — the whole Catchup system relies on knowing when spaces will
occur.
