Hello ,
Our Summer Timetable is out so please check your emails and get your classes booked in. If you've not already had an email from us with the Summer Timetable attached, you will do
soon.
Classes will only run if we have enough people attending, so don’t miss out on your Pilates over the summer.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered for Mary’s ‘practice’ classes — this coming week is the last week before we start our new Absolute Beginners classes. I would really appreciate your feedback if you have attended any of Mary's classes, as this week I will also be participating.
These are the questions I would like you to answer if you have attended any of Mary’s classes: - How did you feel about Mary’s meet and greet of you to class as individuals?
- Did she explain the basics of Pilates to you in her set up?
- Could you hear her explanations throughout the class?
- How did the class flow?
- Was Mary attentive throughout the class in checking your performance and understanding of the
exercises?
- How did you feel at the end of the session?
I would be grateful if you could take some time to email your answers directly to me, at: jane@janethomaspilates.co.uk.
Have a great week folks — look, move and feel good.

We have a new piece of equipment at the Studio which we will be using with our one-to-one clients. It is a BOSU — meaning Both Sides Utilised — an absolutely brilliant device for working on balance, and specifically your core.
Innocuous enough it may look,
but it offers potentially one of the best workouts you will ever get.

Several of you have purchased Pilates rollers to do a roller workout at home, but have been asking if we have any DVDs on the topic. We do indeed. First of these is our An Introduction to Your Pilates Roller DVD. This is a basic guide to using your roller, and will get
you started.
We hope to be filming and producing further DVDs about using the Pilates roller in more advanced workouts in the coming weeks.

This week I am focusing on stability of the pelvis and lower back with two very simple exercises — single knee opening from a supine position, and shoulder bridge with a crossed leg.
The purpose of these exercises is to get us to work each side of the body
independently and evenly, and for us to become more mindful of how each side of our body operates.
As with every exercise, work at the appropriate level for your body.
Feel the difference, move differently, and look more balanced.

I have always been a ‘smiler’.
I can remember when I started college, once I had got to know a few girls and made friends, one of them said to me that her first thoughts were that I was a bit weird because I was always smiling! But once she got to know me she
realised that it was just part of me. And people have often said that my smile has been the first thing they have noticed about me.
I think a smile tells us a lot. Sometimes we can see a smile around the mouth but it doesn’t carry behind the eyes — because a smile can be part of putting on a brave face, or a lack of trust, or fear. I have definitely used my smile, I have hidden behind it on occasion, but mostly I use it to reassure others, to say it's going to be
ok, it's going to be fine, it's going to be great, you are safe with me, you can trust me, I am your friend, I care.
Use your smile this week.

All matwork and Reformer classes are running as planned this week, all in their correct venues. There are also Reformer Extra classes on Tuesday 28 June at 12.15pm and Thursday 30 June at 11.30am — for people who want to try a free
taster class on the Reformer — if you are booked on one of these, please remember to come.
There will be more Reformer Extra classes over the coming weeks, so if you are interested to find out what a Reformer is, and how it can boost your Pilates, get in touch to find out dates and see if there are spaces.
Book a Catchup
If you know you will have to miss a class in your course for any reason, and
would like to book a space in another class instead, just follow the link to book it.
Simply tell us the class you will miss and —most important — please give us as many alternatives as possible. If you only give us one alternative, we cannot guarantee you will get a Catchup.
Please also let us know if you will miss your class but don't want a Catchup — the whole Catchup system relies on knowing when spaces will
occur.
