Summer

The Jane Thomas Pilates Newsletter
Hello ,

I love, love, love our Summer Timetable classes!

What I see happening is people meeting up who didn’t realise they shared a passion for Pilates because they normally go to different classes. Our Summer Timetable provides the opportunity to attend at another venue with a different trainer, and this — in turn — provides the opportunity to catch up with friends old and new. I think that is wonderful.

Another reason is — from a trainer’s point of view — we get to meet our extended family. Which means we start to put faces to names, and we get to meet new faces who we may not normally get to see.

I love our Summer Timetable, and I hope you do too!

Have a good week everyone — remember to look, move and feel great.

Biomechanics News
Congratulations to Helen and Jenny who attended the first module towards becoming Biomechanics Coaches last weekend.

We take our Continuous Professional Development very seriously, and — as I felt this qualification enhanced my Pilates training/coaching skills — I felt they would also benefit.

Of course what benefits us, then benefits all of you — as you are on the receiving end of our learning and development. Our aim is always to be able to help you as much as possible to achieve your movement and fitness goals, so as we continue to progress with our learning, you too will progress with your goals. Helen and Jenny look forward to sharing their new found knowledge with you all on their return from holidays.
Exercise Of The Week
I received some great feedback from the routine I put on the newsletter last week, so I am sending another for you to work on. This week focuses on hip and thoracic mobility, and the video lasts for approximately 15 minutes, so will fit perfectly into even the busiest of days.

Work at the appropriate level for your body, and enjoy practicing your Pilates.

Feel the difference, move differently, and look more balanced.

Your Whole Self
As I type this I am sitting in my garden enjoying the sunshine and blue skies and it truly is a beautiful afternoon. It also feels very peaceful, even though there are sounds in the background coming from other gardens where some children are playing, someone in the distance is mowing a lawn, and someone is already barbecuing as I can smell the cooking.

This makes me realise how important it is to find some peaceful time during the day. Over the last couple of weeks, I have begun to appreciate peace and quiet more and more. I recognise the benefits of switching off the brain, giving the brain time to be calm and rested from our thoughts.

I have come to realise that for me finding two minutes a day to allow my brain and my body to switch off has made a huge difference to my mindset and my energy levels. Those of you who have been attending my classes over the summer have probably recognised that I am allowing time for you to be still and peaceful at the end of our session, because I want to bring this feeling of peace and calm to you, your mind, and your body.

Two minutes doesn’t seem like a lot… Well it isn’t… Which means it is achievable, and those two minutes have become very precious to me. So try it, just two minutes — set an alarm, then just sit comfortably, close your eyes, focus on your breath, if thoughts come into your head let them, but then return to your breath.

The more you practise, the easier it becomes, and the better you feel. Find two minutes every day this week, to give your brain some peace and an opportunity to be calm.

A few more classes this week, but still quite a few gaps as Jenny and Helen are both taking their summer holiday break. Check your diary to make sure you don't miss your Summer Timetable class, or turn up to a class that isn't on...

Book a Catchup

If you know you will have to miss a class in your course for any reason, and would like to book a space in another class instead, just follow the link to book it.

Simply tell us the class you will miss and —most important — please give us as many alternatives as possible. If you only give us one alternative, we cannot guarantee you will get a Catchup.

Please also let us know if you will miss your class but don't want a Catchup — the whole Catchup system relies on knowing when spaces will occur.
