As I type this I am sitting in my garden enjoying the sunshine and blue skies and it truly is a beautiful afternoon. It also feels very peaceful, even though there are sounds in the background coming from other gardens where some children are playing, someone in the distance is mowing a lawn, and
someone is already barbecuing as I can smell the cooking.
This makes me realise how important it is to find some peaceful time during the day. Over the last couple of weeks, I have begun to appreciate peace and quiet more and more. I recognise the benefits of switching off the brain, giving the brain time to be calm and rested from our thoughts.
I have come to realise that for me finding two minutes a day to allow my brain and my body
to switch off has made a huge difference to my mindset and my energy levels. Those of you who have been attending my classes over the summer have probably recognised that I am allowing time for you to be still and peaceful at the end of our session, because I want to bring this feeling of peace and calm to you, your mind, and your body.
Two minutes doesn’t seem like a lot… Well it isn’t… Which means it is achievable, and those two minutes have become very precious to
me. So try it, just two minutes — set an alarm, then just sit comfortably, close your eyes, focus on your breath, if thoughts come into your head let them, but then return to your breath.
The more you practise, the easier it becomes, and the better you feel. Find two minutes every day this week, to give your brain some peace and an opportunity to be calm.
