The Girls Are Back In Town...

Hello ,

I am absolutely loving the Olympics. I have always loved sport, to play and to watch, but what I love most about the Olympics is the fact that we have so much access to sports we might not follow normally. So I find myself watching badminton, trampolining, archery, shooting … particularly if there are British entrants of course, but I also find myself rooting for other countries who somehow find one athlete who is world class at an obscure sport.

For example I found myself watching the water polo, and thinking how brutal it was. It seemed worse than rugby in terms of the physicality of the game. Players pulling other players under water, holding their arms down so they can’t get the ball — and when they get out of the pool they have claw marks over their bodies from the tackling! Amazing!

Anyway it got me thinking about what they all have in common, and that is their commitment to their sport. Sir Bradley Wiggins put it into context when he was being interviewed after winning the track cycling team pursuit gold medal last Friday evening — he talked about the team’s commitment to training even to the last hour before Christmas Day. Their motivation, desire to get it right, to be the best they can possibly be, to reach their ultimate goals is truly inspirational…

Have a good week everyone — remember to look, move and feel great.

Next Year's Classes
You'll all know that our matwork class year runs from September to August — just like the educational year, really — and we have currently been busy bees and are in the late stages of sorting out our new year's classes.

Producing our year's timetable is always a tricky job, lining up all the venues we hire along with all our Instructors, squeezing the classes in between Bank Holidays, school holidays, other events in the venues and so on, but this year's timetable is proving to be one of the trickiest yet.

However, we're getting close now, and once we're done we will email all class members with the timetable for next year, and invite you to stay doing your Pilates with us.

Look out for the email over the next week or so. You won't need to do anything when you get it if you're staying with us, but it will have the year's class timetable attached for your reference. You may want to stick the timetable on your fridge or something, so you can easily see your class dates.
Exercise Of The Week
As we are still in the holiday period, and because I haven’t been to the beach for ages and I miss it, I thought I would post our ‘On the Beach’ routine this week again.

It's just a short routine of about 10 minutes, and if you are still on your holidays, you can do this workout whilst actually on the beach — but if not you can do it at home. Have fun and work at the appropriate level for your body.

Feel the difference, move differently, and look more balanced.

Your Whole Self
Because I am enjoying my garden a lot at the moment, mainly to sit in it and look at the plants and flowers (thanks Mike!) it got me thinking about what I am grateful for, and how sometimes we get hung up on all the negative stuff which goes on in our lives.

It's very easy to slip into the mode of thinking that everything would be better if..., or we start to wait for the right time, or we might think everyone else's life is better than ours.

Well the truth of it is that if we want something to be better we can make a choice to make it better, and there is no right time except NOW.

It is down to us, we, me, you, I to start making those choices now! The grass will only get greener if we make a choice to water it. We have the power, so let's use it!

This week sees the return of Helen and Jenny from their well-earned breaks, and them starting to pick up the mantle of classes. Helen starts from Monday, while Jenny starts on Thursday.

We are still in the middle of the Summer Timetable classes, so please make sure you check which summer classes you have booked.

Thursday sees three replacement classes for those missed back in July — 10am in Hathern Village Hall, and 6.30pm & 7.30pm in Rempstone Village Hall.

Book a Catchup

If you know you will have to miss a class in your course for any reason, and would like to book a space in another class instead, just follow the link to book it.

Simply tell us the class you will miss and —most important — please give us as many alternatives as possible. If you only give us one alternative, we cannot guarantee you will get a Catchup.

Please also let us know if you will miss your class but don't want a Catchup — the whole Catchup system relies on knowing when spaces will occur.
