The Jane Thomas Pilates Newsletter
Hello
I would like to introduce Annie Rae to you all. Annie is a Physiotherapist and will be holding a clinic at our Pilates in Loughborough Studio every Friday morning.

It has long been a goal of mine to get a Physiotherapist available at the Studio, so I welcome Annie and look forward to her input there. Click here to see her website for more information.

Healthy Backs Masterclass
Following on from my highly successful Jane Does Joseph Masterclass a few weeks back, I am going to run a Healthy Backs Masterclass, on Saturday 26 November, at 9.30am, in Rosebery Street Medical Centre.

In the Healthy Backs Masterclass I shall be looking at the ways Pilates can help you if you suffer from ongoing non-specific lower back issues, and throw in a few Biomechanics exercises to help you manage and improve your symptoms.

The Healthy Backs Masterclass is free for any of our current clients. Numbers will however be limited, so spaces will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Have a fantastic week folks, keep looking, moving and feeling great.

Exercise Of The Week
This week I want you to practise a Side Bend.

In the video I show how to feel the correct muscles creating the movement. It is a brilliant exercise for the waist and those lovely lateral muscles.

As with all Exercies Of The Weeks, work at the appropriate level for your body, and as you practise every day monitor how much stronger you will feel, as you progress.

Feel the difference, move differently, and look more balanced.

Your Whole Self
I would usually use this space in our Newsletter to raise Emotional Wellbeing issues, but this week I am raising your awareness of your Physical Wellbeing.

Physical Wellbeing and Emotional Wellbeing are intrinsically linked, and here I focus on the simple choices we can make to help our Physical Wellbeing.

People who have high Physical Wellbeing manage their health well, they exercise regularly, and as a result, feel better.

They will make good dietary choices. This keeps energy levels high throughout the day and as a consequence sharpens the mind.

They also usually get enough sleep which has the knock on effect of getting a good start each day as it arrives.

Because of their healthy lifestyle, they are very able to do things, as they wake up feeling well-rested, look better, feel better and have more energy.

We often feel that our Physical Wellbeing is hard work to maintain. However, simple short-term choices that we can make will have a long-term effect on our overall physical health. All we have to do is start adopting healthy habits, make smart choices about diet, exercise and sleep. We will feel better, have more energy, look better and live longer.

Physical Wellbeing isn’t about running a marathon, fitting into a size 10 dress, holding a “plank” position for 10 days… It is about having good health and enough energy to get things done on a daily basis.

So here are six Body Intentions for you to practise this week, and recognise the affect on your Physical Wellbeing:
  1. Drink more water than tea or coffee every day
  2. Take two minutes, find a quiet space, close your eyes and focus on your breath
  3. Eat for nutrition and health
  4. Choose to do some physical exercise for 10 minutes every day
  5. Wear your favourite clothes - stop saving them for best
  6. Go to bed one hour earlier than your usual time.

Book a Catchup

If you know you will have to miss a class in your course for any reason, and would like to book a space in another class instead, just follow the link to book it.

Simply tell us the class you will miss and —most important — please give us as many alternatives as possible. If you only give us one alternative, we cannot guarantee you will get a Catchup.

Please also let us know if you will miss your class but don't want a Catchup — the whole Catchup system relies on knowing when spaces will occur.
