The Jane Thomas Pilates Newsletter
Hello
This week I am making the Newsletter all about family. As part of this I want to talk about my extended family that is the JTP family.

Last week was a particular testing time as one of our team of Pilates Coaches was ill, which meant that she was unable to teach her classes so in order for us to continue to bring Pilates to you we had to cover her classes, and I was extremely grateful that we could share the cover between the rest of the team.

What was so lovely was the feeling of caring I received from those class participants, sending their love and best wishes to our poorly Coach and hoping she recovered quickly. It gave me a warm feeling and made me happy that we have such a fabulous community spirit.

On this basis I would like to thank everyone for this, I truly appreciate the team for leaping in and covering and everyone who attends our classes, my #hashtag for 2017 is #family/community, and everyone has lived up to that already and we are still in 2016!

THANK YOU.

Have a fantastic week folks — keep looking, moving and feeling great.

Exercise Of The Week
For this week's Exercise of the Week I am sending you this exercise with love — it isn’t by itself a true Pilates exercise, but I use it quite a lot because it builds strength in some key areas of our core — namely our gluteals, and all the muscles in our thighs. Plus, when performed correctly and recruiting deep abdominal muscles, the area around the lower back is challenged.

It is a wonderful exercise to combat sciatic nerve impingement plus it mobilises our hips and our knees.

My other reason for loving this exercise is that it works the muscle of love — the Psoas — which is deep, connects from the lower spine, passes across the pelvic girdle and attaches into the top of the thigh bone, so the whole move is driven by the Psoas which we need to be strong and flexible as it moves us up and down, forwards and keeps us upright.

Technique is everything in this exercise so follow the instructions and check your body alignment — it's great for knees as long as it is performed with fabulous technique.

Work at the appropriate level for your body and keep away from pain. Enjoy!

Feel the difference, move differently, and look more balanced.

Your Whole Self
As mentioned earlier, the focus in this Newsletter is on family.

Within my family my top 3 core values of love, trust and happiness are paramount. I am therefore constantly working towards living my life by my core values.

I try to show my love daily — by telling people, with my actions, and with my behaviour towards others and myself.

Like most people, my trust has and probably always will be tested, but I believe in people, I act with integrity, and I am authentic, real and true to myself. For me, happiness comes from love and trust — everything starts from the heart, I feel it and I also give it from my heart.

It is from this place that I have tried to build our extended JTP family — I hope you enjoy being part of it, and I hope that you feel my love, trust and happiness as I share my core values with all of you in this wonderful family.

The Week's Classes

Most matwork classes are running fully this week, but there are no Friday evening classes in Hathern Community School.

Reformer courses are mostly ended, but there are 8am and 9am classes on Thursday morning to make up for classes missed earlier in the course. There is also an added Reformer class for the Friday 12.30pm group.

Book a Catchup

If you know you will have to miss a class in your course for any reason, and would like to book a space in another class instead, just follow the link to book it. Our Glamourous Assistant Karen runs the Catchups system, and this link is the quickest, most direct means (it's even faster than emailing her!) of letting Karen know.

Simply tell us the class you will miss and — most important — please give us as many alternatives as possible. If you only give us one alternative, we cannot guarantee you will get a Catchup.

Please also let us know if you will miss your class but don't want a Catchup — the whole Catchup system relies on knowing when spaces will occur.

Finally, please don't just tell your class Pilates Coach you will be missing a class, as your Coach is not aware of Catchups spaces and has no means of registering your space. Karen needs to know, and the link here (it's also at the bottom of our website too) is the best way to let Karen know.
