As we slip out of February and move into March we know that we are springing forwards towards lighter evenings, longer days, spring flowers, warmer weather.
I love this time of the year, everything seems so … NEW! Talking of which, our new classes start this week at St Joseph's Tearooms, Whitwick. These classes are for Absolute Beginners, so lovely, small groups, for individuals to begin to change their lives by practising
Pilates with us.
Charlie is our new teacher of these classes, and I welcome him to the team. Charlie’s main area of expertise is equestrian, so this is an exciting new addition to the JTP family.
There are still a few spaces as the classes will be on Thursday evening 5.30pm and Friday morning 10.30am, so if you know of someone who would benefit, or who is looking for a small group beginners class please ask them to get in touch with us.
I quite fancy the Friday morning class — Pilates, then coffee and cake for afters … perfect!
Have a fantastic week folks — keep looking, moving and feeling great.

This week I am breaking down the exercise known as Swimming.
This is a brilliant exercise for strengthening our posterior chain of muscles. I show different levels for this to be practised, and if you have any problems either weight-bearing with hands
and wrists, or into knees but you want to practise this at home — please get in touch with me for alternatives.
Once you get to the improvers level for this when you are face down on the mat, if you feel any pinching in your lower back before you have performed any movement, then you need to fold up a towel or use a cushion and place it under your stomach. This will simply take any pressure away from the lumbar spine when working in this
position.
Work at the appropriate level for your body, and keep away from pain.
Feel the difference, move differently, and look more balanced.

Keith and I had a short break away from our routine this week — we went to the seaside.
I had quite a lot of work to do, which involved me sitting at my laptop and writing and planning, but I knew if I stayed at home I would procrastinate and find other more interesting
jobs to do, such as washing, ironing, cleaning and tidying … etc., etc.
So going away and staying in a fairly pleasant hotel for a couple of days took all those obstacles away from me so that I could happily get on with the work I had to do.
It was absolutely brilliant, because I could get up in the morning, have a coffee (we always take a cafetierre with us so we can make our own coffee in the room) do my 10 minutes of exercise. While
I am doing all this Keith is playing his guitar. Then I would shower, before heading down for breakfast. This would be followed by a walk along the beach, before heading back to our room where I would then get on with my work.
There are several things here which make me happy.
1. I don’t have to cook or think about meals because they are all done for me 2. I don’t have to wash up 3. I am by the sea, so
can take a walk on the beach any time I like 4. I have time to sit and work without interruption, so I am focused and not easily distracted, making me more productive 5. Did I mention I am by the sea, so can walk on the beach at any time!!! Even when Storm Doris is approaching... See below!

The point I am making is that sometimes if you have something specific to do, which doesn’t involve you having to be at home, you can be more productive, less distracted, more focused, and have more fun doing it, if you take
yourself away … find a nice coffee lounge, a big enough table for you to spread out whatever it is you are working on, get your drink ordered, and then get working.
It can also make it more fun — it could be anything you have to do, planning a party, planning a holiday, writing a book, studying, doing a tax return … make it an enjoyable experience and take yourself off to somewhere you love. It works for me ….

Book a Catchup
If you know you will have to miss a class in your course for any reason, and would like to book a space in another class instead,
just follow the link to book it. Our Glamourous Assistant Karen runs the Catchups system, and this link is the quickest, most direct means (it's even faster than emailing her!) of letting Karen know.
Simply tell us the class you will miss and — most important — please give us as many alternatives as possible. If you only give us one alternative, we cannot guarantee you will get a
Catchup.
Please also let us know if you will miss your class but don't want a Catchup — the whole Catchup system relies on knowing when spaces will occur.
Finally, please don't just tell your class Pilates Coach you will be missing a class, as your Coach is not aware of Catchups spaces and has no means of registering your space. Karen needs to know, and the link
here (it's also at the bottom of our website too) is the best way to let Karen know.
