We are welcoming and celebrating the month of March…
So much is wonderful about this month. Lighter nights, brighter days, spring flowers, warmer weather, Mothers Day, and my birthday!...
And as it is my birthday month, I am planning on lots of gifts to share out among our JTP family. The first gift is my Exercise Of The Week… obviously!
We are going to have a bit of
MarchMatness this week as I am giving you not one exercise, not two, but three exercises to work on daily to build strength, mobility and wellbeing.
Throughout the month of March I will be gifting all sorts of things… all will be Pilates-based of course, and all will be for the benefit of your health and wellbeing. So keep checking in with our weekly newsletter so that you don’t miss out.
Have a fantastic week folks — keep looking, moving and feeling great.

So here they are — three videos for you to use throughout the week.
In case you aren’t able to get to your regular Pilates classes these videos done daily will be enough to maintain your mobility and strength, you just have to set a few minutes aside each day to do them. Even
if you do manage to get to all your Pilates classes, if you do these exercises every day you will be doing yourself a really big favour.
It couldn’t be easier …
The first here is Sticky Knees — focusing totally on deep stabilising muscles for the lower back. If
wrists are your problem, rest on your forearms, keeping elbows directly under the shoulder sockets. This doesn’t have to be lifting the knees just feeling as if you are taking the weight out of the knee, then replacing the weight before doing it on the other side. Eventually, you will be able to do both knees together.
An Inverted V here — an alternative to a
push up pyramid stretch for those who may have difficulty weight bearing into wrists. This incorporates the deep stabilisers for the lower back, stabilisers and strength for the shoulder girdle, plus an opportunity to stretch hamstrings and calf muscles in the back of the legs.
As with all our Exercises Of The Week, please work at the appropriate level for your body, and keep away from pain. If you need any guidance with these exercises please ask your class Coach or
email me directly.

This week I am focused on gifts, as you can probably tell by the opening of the Newsletter! And this reminds me of my Mum.
Whenever it used to come towards her birthday, Mothers Day or Christmas and we used to ask my Mum what she would like for her birthday. Her answer was always the same. I don’t want you to spend your money on anything, I just want to spend time with you.
Now that my Mum is no
longer around, I understand completely why this was so important to her. We can never get back time — time passes, and while we can always buy another book, or another handbag, or another bunch of flowers, we can never get that time back.
So this week, don’t make any excuses, don’t put off spending time with those you love — friends, family, and others — because that is what is important.
Time cannot be bought, time can not be replaced, it is
here and now, free and available, so give it, take it and enjoy the gift that is time!

Most classes — matwork and Reformer — are running this week, in their usual venue, and on their usual day/time.
However, next weekend sees the next of our First Class Pilates Coach training workshop weekends —
when I am training my group of next-generation First Class Pilates Coaches — so the Saturday 11 March Quorn Village Hall class is not running, and neither is the Saturday Reformer class.
Book a Catchup
If you know you will have to miss a class in your course for any reason, and would like to book a space in another class instead,
just follow the link to book it. Our Glamourous Assistant Karen runs the Catchups system, and this link is the quickest, most direct means (it's even faster than emailing her!) of letting Karen know.
Simply tell us the class you will miss and — most important — please give us as many alternatives as possible. If you only give us one alternative, we cannot guarantee you will get a
Catchup.
Please also let us know if you will miss your class but don't want a Catchup — the whole Catchup system relies on knowing when spaces will occur.
Finally, please don't just tell your class Pilates Coach you will be missing a class, as your Coach is not aware of Catchups spaces and has no means of registering your space. Karen needs to know, and the link
here (it's also at the bottom of our website too) is the best way to let Karen know.
