I know I am always banging on about how Pilates can help us to live our lives, and this week is no different. One of our recently qualified Pilates Coaches has her own story and I would like you to read it here:
Tanya’s story
Hello everyone, my name is Tanya, and I am one of the Pilates coaches on Jane’s wonderful team. Jane asked me if I could write
a piece for the newsletter to talk to you about myself and how I manage and live with a condition I have. So, here is my attempt to do so….
The Condition
A few years ago, I was diagnosed with a condition called Joint Hypermobility Syndrome (JHS). It is a complex condition that is confusing amongst the medical profession, let alone a mere mortal such as myself to
try to explain. At its simplest description, I am too flexible, that is, my joints are not held in place properly by the connective tissues that are meant to do this job. At a slightly more detailed level, the connective tissue problems cause a wide range of added complications, such as chronic pain, extreme fatigue, resistance to anaesthetics and many more issues. The condition very often goes undiagnosed for many years as this heritable genetic disorder is still being
understood.
Have a fantastic week folks — keep looking, moving and feeling great.

This week is all about the Pelvic Tilt —and four videos about it!
The first three videos show how to perform a pelvic tilt in 3 different start positions, while the fourth video puts the pelvic tilt into a sequence with a hip glide, as both help the
mobility of the mid/lower spine.
The Pelvic Tilt forms the basis of true mobility for Pilates exercises, so this week the focus is simply on getting the pelvis moving. Next week will be about how the pelvic tilt fits into performing Pilates exercises.
Unless you have a structurally fused lumbar spine where a pelvic tilt is not right for you, this movement is crucial to every day mobility for our
bodies:
Feel the difference,
move differently, and look more balanced.

Bearing in mind what has been happening recently in this country of ours I have been wondering how events have been affecting us all when we see our news bulletins and hear discussions on our TVs and Radios. So I am just going to send a quote this week for you to perhaps print off and stick on your
fridge door at home or on a wall at work, somewhere you will see it every day, as I feel it sums up what we have seen and how we should think, feel and believe:
I love those who can smile in trouble, who can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. ’Tis the business of little minds to shrink, but they whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves their conduct, will pursue their principles unto
death.
Thomas Paine (Philosopher).

There's a full complement of classes again this week — all in their correct venues, on their correct days, at their correct times. Feels like a record! ;-)
Book a Catchup
If you know you will have to miss a class in your course for any reason, and would like to book a space in another class instead,
just follow the link to book it. Our Glamourous Assistant Karen runs the Catchups system, and this link is the quickest, most direct means (it's even faster than emailing her!) of letting Karen know.
Simply tell us the class you will miss and — most important — please give us as many alternatives as possible. If you only give us one alternative, we cannot guarantee you will get a
Catchup.
Please also let us know if you will miss your class but don't want a Catchup — the whole Catchup system relies on knowing when spaces will occur.
Finally, please don't just tell your class Pilates Coach you will be missing a class, as your Coach is not aware of Catchups spaces and has no means of registering your space. Karen needs to know, and the link
here (it's also at the bottom of our website too) is the best way to let Karen know.
