Just over a year ago we ran a Mindset workshop for our JTP family with Philippa Burnett. Many of you, our clients, will remember it as a fantastic opportunity to help with mindset.
Since then lots has happened for Philippa, including getting married — so she is now Philippa Bottrill. Congratulations to Philippa, and — particularly to — her hubby (he is a very lucky man). The good news is that Philippa will be running another
workshop for us on Friday 23rd February from 9.30-11.30am.
Philippa's 'Be You' Transformational Workshop will be held in Old Woodhouse Community Hall, and will focus on Mindful Movement, Meditation, and Rapid Transformation Technique when Philippa will be doing a group hypnosis.
Note: Spaces are limited to just 20, and Philippa advises that her Workshop will not be
suitable for anyone who suffers with epilepsy.
If you are interested and wish to book a space please reply as soon as possible to this Newsletter and we will send more information. This event is free only to the first 20 JTP class and Studio participants.
Have a fantastic week folks — keep looking, moving and feeling great.

This week I am sharing a movement which isn’t a classic Joseph Pilates exercise, but a pre-Pilates exercise which I use to challenge pelvic girdle stability.
I take the move from foundation through to challenge, which allows
everyone to perform at the appropriate level for their body.
I apologise for the echo/loud voice, we recorded it without the use of a microphone and our studio can be echoey!!! So here it is — single knee opening.
Feel the difference, move differently, and look more balanced.

I have done a lot of talking about “Big Brave Pants” this week! Mainly because I have had to pull them on a lot as I have found myself stepping out of my comfort zone quite a bit.
This saying came into my life when I was sharing my anxiety about teaching exercise with fellow
teachers and instructors, and how at some time or other we all feel like this. So we came up with a few statements we could say to each other to try and help — and “Big Brave Pants” seemed to resonate with all of us.
So whenever I am in situations and I find my anxiety levels rising, I tell myself to put on my big brave pants. This is a fun thing to say, and I find that it makes me laugh, and I feel more in control of my anxiety if I can
laugh.
But there is also a connection to this statement with Pilates practice. Our posture can add to our “Big Brave Pants” scenario. If we start by lifting the chest, opening and creating more volume in the chest, bringing the shoulders back and down, and holding the head up high, it creates a picture, an image of confidence. If you add this to the breathing, which becomes easier with volume and lift of the chest and rib cage, the centring that the breathing provides
then brings calm. So now we have calm and confidence — the final part of this puzzle is a feeling of strength — which doesn’t necessarily mean what weight you can lift, but more importantly how you face and deal with those challenging situations.
Focus on these three words — Calm, Confident, Strong. Pull on your big brave pants, smile and you are ready to face the world.

All classes — matwork and Reformer — are running as planned, all in their correct venues, at the correct days and times.
Remember that next week — week commencing 12 February — starts the half-term. Most
classes have a fortnight's break over the half-term, with the exception of all matwork classes on Monday 19 February (which are running to make up for the forthcoming early May Bank Holiday.
Book a Catchup
If you know you will have to miss a class in your course for any reason, and would like to book a space in another class instead,
just follow the link to book it. Our Glamourous Assistant Karen runs the Catchups system, and this link is the quickest, most direct means (it's even faster than emailing her!) of letting Karen know.
Simply tell us the class you will miss and — most important — please give us as many alternatives as possible. If you only give us one alternative, we cannot guarantee you will get a
Catchup.
Please also let us know if you will miss your class but don't want a Catchup — the whole Catchup system relies on knowing when spaces will occur.
Finally, please don't just tell your class Pilates Coach you will be missing a class, as your Coach is not aware of Catchups spaces and has no means of registering your space. Karen needs to know, and the link
here (it's also at the bottom of our website too) is the best way to let Karen know.
