Wow. Just when we thought it safe to go outside, along comes the snow again...
Hopefully, we won't have to cancel any classes this week due to the snow, but as before if we do have to we will have a notice on the website which will list any that are cancelled. It's always worth checking the website before you head off to class in case we've had to cancel at the last minute. Also, if we are forced to cancel at the very last
minute we will try to contact everyone directly by text message. If we're lucky the weather will warm up and the snow will melt quickly.
This is our last full week of group matwork classes, and then it is the Easter break for a fortnight. There are though a few straggler classes during the first week of the break for classes that were cancelled due to snow last time, or classes we're having to put on because venues were unavailable. Make sure to check with your class
Coach this week to see if your class is running next week.
Have a fantastic week folks — keep looking, moving and feeling great.

It's this time of year — snow permitting — that many people start to get out into the garden and prepare for the pending warmer weather of Spring.
And so — with seasonal regularity — it's this time of the year that as Pilates Coaches and Biomechanics
Coaches we get to see lot of people in lots of sciatic pain. Now, of course, I'm not saying that everyone should avoid gardening, as it's an absolutely great exercise for body and soul. But it is definitely one reason why some people get sciatica. Don't stop gardening though, just follow some simple advice in this week's Exercise of the Week.
Sciatic pain can be distracting, debilitating, and even — in worst case scenarios — disabling. But anyone can help themselves
by following the Biomechanics release here.
I must point out though, that this is a RELEASE, not a stretch, not even strictly speaking an exercise. You should not be trying to work any muscles, tendons, or ligaments while you do it. Instead you should aim to release them. It should make you feel like going Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, but not Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
There are various levels of the release, depending on how much sciatic pain you are in.
Start at the lowest level and work up. Follow the video carefully, and repeat the required times each day.
Feel the difference, move differently, and look more balanced.

I am an avid Twitter watcher. I love Twitter and all it brings. It can reinforce your own thoughts by bringing you to see other like-minded people's views, or it can challenge you by showing you other perspectives. If you are careful who you follow on Twitter, by being selective, the overall result
can be a rewarding source of information and news.
One of the nicest things I've seen recently on Twitter was the homeless man who less than a fortnight ago was given an old mobile phone from a kind person who had just bought a new phone. The homeless man joined Twitter as @CharlieBinBags and the result has been encouraging and truly uplifting. You can see his Twitter bio, and his pinned Tweet below.
It has brought me to mind that —
sometimes — we can be in an unsafe and unhealthy position through no fault of our own. Be it bad luck, bad judgment, bad circumstances, or any other reason — getting out of it can be very hard, if not impossible.
Sometimes — reaching out to people in such a position to help can be all that's needed to get them back on their feet again. Also — sometimes — it's not money that's needed.
If you're on Twitter, look up Charlie and follow his
story. If you're not on Twitter, there's never been a better reason to try it out...

All classes, matwork and Reformer, are running as planned, and — apart from a couple — all in their correct venues too, at the correct days and times.
The 9.30am Saturday 24 March Quorn class, which is
in Rosebery Street Medical Centre for this week only. Quorn Village Hall is being used for another purpose that day, so we've been turfed out.
Also, there are no evening Reformer classes on Monday 19 March.
Book a Catchup
If you know you will have to miss a class in your course for any reason, and would like to book a space in another class instead,
just follow the link to book it. Our Glamourous Assistant Karen runs the Catchups system, and this link is the quickest, most direct means (it's even faster than emailing her!) of letting Karen know.
Simply tell us the class you will miss and — most important — please give us as many alternatives as possible. If you only give us one alternative, we cannot guarantee you will get a
Catchup.
Please also let us know if you will miss your class but don't want a Catchup — the whole Catchup system relies on knowing when spaces will occur.
Finally, please don't just tell your class Pilates Coach you will be missing a class, as your Coach is not aware of Catchups spaces and has no means of registering your space. Karen needs to know, and the link
here (it's also at the bottom of our website too) is the best way to let Karen know.
