I do hope you are enjoying your Easter break, and getting some time away from working. I can't wait till Friday when Keith and me will be heading up to Bridlington for four days. Hopefully spring will have sprung and it'll be nice weather over the weekend, but we always go prepared when we do the north-east of England as we know how inclement it can get... Fortunately it's the fresh air we're looking forward to anyway.
Just a
couple of things to remind you of. There's a free Pilates matwork taster class in Rosebery Street on Wednesday, and a few other snow replacement classes, but other than that most classes aren't running. Check the Calendar below to see if your class is one of the ones running this week.
Also, a reminder that — as part of the new and imminent GDPR data protection and privacy regulation — we will be giving each of our class participants and Studio clients a new
pre-exercise health questionnaire to complete starting next week when classes return to normal after the Easter break. This is a very important document as we need it to fulfil our insurance and GDPR obligations, so please do complete it immediately when your Pilates Coach gives it to you. This must of course be completed before you can continue to take Pilates with us, so on behalf of all of us here in the JTP team: many, many thanks for your understanding and
co-operation.
Have a fantastic week folks — keep looking, moving and feeling great.

Pilates is all about the right breathing— thoracic breathing — to aid the exercise.
But this week I want to concentrate on another type of breathing — the type you should use when you are relaxing — diaphragmatic breathing, also known as relaxation
breathing, or even mindset breathing. This is where you use the diaphragm itself to draw the air in and out of the body. It automatically generates a more relaxed feeling, and is worth practising when you have a little more time — as I hope you will do this Easter holiday week.
You could use it straight after you do the routine I gave you as an Exercise of the Week last week, as a relaxation phase. Or you could simply use it at any time, as a relaxation aid.
Feel the difference, move differently, and look more balanced.

Continuing on the theme of relaxation in the Exercise of the Week above, I want to bring you something from one of my favourite writers of all time — Maya Angelou. She was indeed very right when she wrote this:
Each person deserves a day
away in which no problems are confronted, no solutions searched for. Each of us needs to withdraw from the cares which will not withdraw from us.
It is my intention to withdraw this coming weekend. I hope you can find a day too.

Very few classes this week. There's a free taster class on Wednesday morning in Rosebery Street Medical Centre, and just a handful of snow replacement classes for those missed on 1&2 March.
If you know
anyone who would benefit from Pilates, please tell them about the free taster class and point them in our direction. Spaces are limited and must be booked.
Book a Catchup
If you know you will have to miss a class in your course for any reason, and would like to book a space in another class instead,
just follow the link to book it. Our Glamourous Assistant Karen runs the Catchups system, and this link is the quickest, most direct means (it's even faster than emailing her!) of letting Karen know.
Simply tell us the class you will miss and — most important — please give us as many alternatives as possible. If you only give us one alternative, we cannot guarantee you will get a
Catchup.
Please also let us know if you will miss your class but don't want a Catchup — the whole Catchup system relies on knowing when spaces will occur.
Finally, please don't just tell your class Pilates Coach you will be missing a class, as your Coach is not aware of Catchups spaces and has no means of registering your space. Karen needs to know, and the link
here (it's also at the bottom of our website too) is the best way to let Karen know.
