First of all — apologies for having to cancel some of our classes last week due to the snow and various weather conditions beyond our control. For the most part the notice on the website worked to let everyone know in time that their class was cancelled. We also tried where possible to email or text if we felt it was short notice — this leads me to remind everyone to provide us with up to date contact details, as it's really helpful in cases of
emergency.
We will be looking at our calendar and venue availability and where possible we will be adding some classes to make up for the cancelled sessions. These dates will be sent to you as soon as we have confirmed them.
If you had booked into the cancelled sessions for a Catchup then please notify Karen in the usual way — the link is always at the bottom of every Newsletter — and she will endeavour to organise a new Catchup date
for you.
Thank you so much for your patience and understanding.
Have a fantastic week folks — keep looking, moving and feeling great.

I am sharing an exercise this week which is perfect for strengthening those all important core muscles — our abdominals, our gluteals, our quadriceps, our hamstrings — all are working during this exercise when performed correctly.
Although it is
not an original Joseph Pilates exercise, I use it a lot in my routines as part of the preparation phase of the class, as it starts to get the body moving, using big muscle groups which gets the circulation going.
The added benefits of this exercise is the strengthening of the thigh muscles that support the knee (see Traudi’s story below), plus it is a great exercise for the lower back and for anyone who has suffered with sciatic pain in the past this starts to mobilise
the sciatic nerve and releases the pressure on the nerve. So everyone, I give you — The Potty Squat…
Precision of movement is crucial for this exercise to fully provide all the benefits I have mentioned above. Work at the appropriate level for your body and if you are unsure of your alignment and technique get your class teacher to check it out for you.
Feel the difference, move differently, and look more
balanced.

In our occasional series of Stories about the Jane Thomas Pilates family, there are few stories as inspirational as this week's.
Traudi went from having a serious skiing accident a few years ago, to being one of our fantastic team of Coaches, in the process completely
recovering from the accident and completely changing her life.
Traudi's story is a great recommended read, and shows just what you can do for yourself when you set your mind to it.

All classes — matwork and Reformer — are running as planned, all in their correct venues, at the correct days and times.
Of course, we're assuming situation normal regarding the
weather...
Book a Catchup
If you know you will have to miss a class in your course for any reason, and would like to book a space in another class instead,
just follow the link to book it. Our Glamourous Assistant Karen runs the Catchups system, and this link is the quickest, most direct means (it's even faster than emailing her!) of letting Karen know.
Simply tell us the class you will miss and — most important — please give us as many alternatives as possible. If you only give us one alternative, we cannot guarantee you will get a
Catchup.
Please also let us know if you will miss your class but don't want a Catchup — the whole Catchup system relies on knowing when spaces will occur.
Finally, please don't just tell your class Pilates Coach you will be missing a class, as your Coach is not aware of Catchups spaces and has no means of registering your space. Karen needs to know, and the link
here (it's also at the bottom of our website too) is the best way to let Karen know.
