Another Chance to Get in Touch With Your Pelvic Floor
Cara who teaches with the JTP team will
be starting her second Diamond Pilates Pelvic Floor Workshop programme from Saturday 16th June.
These classes will be held in Rosebery Street Medical Centre in Loughborough, 9.30am and 10.30am start times. This workshop follows on from the success of her first workshop earlier in the year, and is a 5 week programme looking at Pelvic Floor health. This course is suitable for both men and women, and she will be taking bookings from now. You can book a space or get more
details by replying to this Newsletter, and we will forward it to Cara for her to reply directly. Numbers are strictly limited to ensure you receive the best level of instruction. Here is a quote from one of the people who attended the first course, which tells us the importance of exercise for our Pelvic Floor whether you are male or female.
It's not a topic that we talk about easily, holding on, I’ve gotta go, I’ve gotta go. Yet knowing as
a man how to exercise your pelvic floor is something we should all learn how to do. (Anthony).
Absolute Beginners We have a new one-off Absolute Beginners Course starting on Wednesday 6 June at 7pm in Rosebery Street Medical Centre, Loughborough and we are taking bookings for the course now. If you'd like to join us for Pilates, or know anyone else who would benefit
from Pilates, an Absolute Beginners Course really is the perfect way to bring Pilates into your life. You will receive a 52-page colour booklet of each week's class and the exercises done in class, along with a weekly video for each class, so you can practise at home. You will learn how to do Pilates the very best way possible, in a very small group, under the close and careful supervision of one of our JTP Coaches. It is a unique and unbeatable formula, and at the end of the 6 week course you
wil be able to join any of our 40 matwork classes a week (space permitting).
Come and join us for Pilates — it really can change your life. Have a fantastic week folks — keep looking, moving and feeling
great.

Last week I focused on our emotional wellbeing and gave a 10 minute relaxation routine for you to practise.
This week’s exercise focuses on mobility, and I want everyone to concentrate on the mid-section of the spine. The exercise in this week’s
video is a gliding movement for the rib cage to increase the mobility of the thoracic part of the spine.
The mid section of our spine can move forwards, backwards, laterally and in rotation. In order to maintain this full range of movement, we need to keep the muscles free that create the movement, so the gliding exercise I demonstrate here is a great starting point to free up the quadratus lumborum muscles.
Try to do this daily,
approximately 8 repetitions to each side. As with every Exercise Of The Week — keep away from pain and work with an appropriate range of movement for your body.
Feel the difference, move differently, and look more balanced.

Last week I focused on mental health and how Pilates can help to connect the mind, body and soul. This week I want to talk about how Pilates can be the first step for some people to help them become more active, and why being active is so
vital to our general wellbeing.
Being active and taking regular exercise helps to manage weight, reduce blood glucose levels and may also improve blood pressure and cholesterol.
However — how do you start to exercise regularly if (a) you haven’t exercised regularly before; (b) you hate exercise; (c) your body hurts when you have tried to exercise in the
past?
If participating in regular exercise has felt challenging in the past, Pilates can be the first step towards making the change. Our Pilates takes a whole body approach, so
it builds stamina and strength so you become more prepared and able to participate in other activities. Pilates does connect the emotional and physical states and can introduce a level of motivation to make a change in lifestyle, so the intention to become more healthy is enhanced.
Once we get our body moving more regularly our general wellbeing will improve, and becoming more active will have an amazing effect on our physical health. It doesn’t even have to take too much time to get started, as Joseph Pilates stated: 10 minutes a day is all that it takes to make the change. Whether it is enabling you to spend more time gardening, or running a marathon,
Pilates can be the first step towards achieving that goal. Pilates can be the first step towards a more active, more healthy lifestyle.

Other than classes on Saturday 26 May, all classes — matwork and Reformer — are running as planned, all in their correct venues, at the correct days and times.
Next week is half-term, so there are only a
handful of classes running that week. Most classes take a week's break.
You can view the above Calendar large by clicking or tapping on it above, but remember that you can also view our new Calendar by clicking or tapping here. The new Calendar will be the one we use from now
on.
Book a Catchup
If you know you will have to miss a class in your course for any reason, and would like to book a space in another class instead,
just follow the link to book it. Our Glamourous Assistant Karen runs the Catchups system, and this link is the quickest, most direct means (it's even faster than emailing her!) of letting Karen know.
Simply tell us the class you will miss and — most important — please give us as many alternatives as possible. If you only give us one alternative, we cannot guarantee you will get a
Catchup.
Please also let us know if you will miss your class but don't want a Catchup — the whole Catchup system relies on knowing when spaces will occur.
Finally, please don't just tell your class Pilates Coach you will be missing a class, as your Coach is not aware of Catchups spaces and has no means of registering your space. Karen needs to know, and the link
here (it's also at the bottom of our website too) is the best way to let Karen know.
