Lovely comment received from one of our new members of the JTP family, who hasn’t been doing Pilates for very long with us. He has recently completed one of our Absolute Beginners Courses, and has now transferred into an Improvers class. His activity of choice is canoeing but the position required in the canoe and the mobility needed was becoming more difficult, with restricted movement and discomfort.
But now, after
completing the ABC course, he says he is back canoeing and is "already beginning to move more freely with less discomfort", and this will of course continue to improve as he continues with his Pilates classes.
I always want to celebrate when I receive feedback like this, I think it is fantastic that he made the decision to change and join a class in the first place, but also to celebrate that he can now continue to fully participate in the sport that he
loves. Pilates helps us to live our lives to the full.
Beginners Reformer Tanya Davies, one of our team of Pilates Coaches, will be running a Summer Special Introductory Course for the Pilates Reformer. This will be a 6 week course, running on Saturday mornings between 4 August & 15 September (missing out the Bank Holiday weekend) 9am–10am, at our Pilates studio in
Loughborough.
Tanya will give you a great introduction to using the Pilates Reformer, and show you how your Pilates workout can become even more effective. Reply to this Newsletter to book your interest as there are only 4 spaces on this Course. All our Reformer classes are micro-group, which provides a more individual approach to the sessions.
Have a fantastic week folks — keep looking, moving and feeling great.

This week’s focus is on improving mobility of the spine by using a Roll Up.
I am teaching this in class at the moment as a full movement, but in the video below I am showing you how to break it down and make the aim of the movement more
achievable.
This exercise does strengthen our core muscles, but the most important part of this is to improve the flexibility of the spine.
Remember to work at the appropriate level for your body and keep away from pain.
Feel the difference, move differently, and look more balanced.

I use a lot of social media. Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram — you name it, I use it in some form or another. I mainly use it for business purposes, but occasionally I also use it to share more personal information such as when Keith and I went to see the Rolling Stones. However,
I do believe that in some ways social media can be harmful to feelings of self-worth.
Keith has a saying for social media — in particular, Facebook. He calls it aggressive narcissism. He has a theory that nearly everyone on social media is there to promote themselves, to make themselves look and ultimately feel better.
Unfortunately, he also believes that people often do that at the expense of others'
feelings.
To a certain degree he is right of course when you think about it. Yeah, people put holiday photos up, cat videos, artsy poems and posts, and sales gimmicks. But — ultimately — it's done to say — Look at me! LOOK AT ME!
And when you are on social media a lot, it could start to affect how you feel about your own life. As you start to make comparisons about what others are doing compared to yourself, it is possible to
start feeling inadequate, not good enough, not doing enough, not knowing enough, etc.etc. Potentially you can get drawn into this narcissism, and find yourself trying to outdo others, with evermore louder LOOK AT ME! posts. In the end, it ca be detrimental for the soul and affect both mental and physical health and wellbeing. Social media can become addictive and before you know it time has been stolen away from other more important parts of your life.
My aim with social
media posts is always to try and put my message across, to reach out to as many people as I can to let them know what I stand for, who I am, and what I believe to be true. I don't compare, I don't give my opinion, I don't criticise others, I just do what I know is right for me. I do aim to spend less time on Social Media sites and only go on if I want to share information about Pilates and what we are doing at JTP. Unless, of course I want to share some of the Rolling Stones .... Lets not
allow social media to steal time away from living our lives, intead of posting about what we are doing, lets just get on and enjoy being in that moment of living it.

All classes are running as planned, all in their correct venues, at the correct days and times — except for the 6pm and 7pm Thursday evening Reformer classes.
Book a Catchup
If you know you will have to miss a class in your course for any reason, and would like to book a space in another class instead, just follow
the link to book it. Our Glamourous Assistant Karen runs the Catchups system, and this link is the quickest, most direct means (it's even faster than emailing her!) of letting Karen know.
Simply tell us the class you will miss and — most important — please give us as many alternatives as possible. If you only give us one alternative, we cannot guarantee you will get a
Catchup.
Please also let us know if you will miss your class but don't want a Catchup — the whole Catchup system relies on knowing when spaces will occur.
Finally, please don't just tell your class Pilates Coach you will be missing a class, as your Coach is not aware of Catchups spaces and has no means of registering your space. Karen needs to know, and the link here (it's
also at the bottom of our website too) is the best way to let Karen know.
