Mindful Movement, Coffee & Cake Event There's a very small handful of spaces left for the Mindful Movement, Coffee & Cake event, which is on Saturday 27 October at 10.30am till 12.30pm in Rosebery Street Medical Centre, Loughborough, if you're interested. This event is free to all our class and session clients. This promises to be a brilliant event, so please don't miss out. A
small charge of £5 is made if you're not a client. Just reply to this Newsletter to check if there are any spaces left if you want to come.
Absolute Beginners Courses We have some Absolute Beginners Courses starting soon, and there are still some spaces left. If you know anyone who should be doing Pilates, please let them know. Just reply to this Newsletter for more information. The new Courses are all in
Loughborough and will be starting on these days/times/dates: - Wednesdays, at 11.30am, starting 7 November
- Thursdays, at 8pm, starting 8 November
- Saturdays, at 9.30am, starting 27 October.
Absolute Beginners Courses are quite simply the best way for anyone to start Pilates — they're in a very small group (maximum of 10) with everyone in the class at the same Beginners level, classes are progressive starting at the very basics but reaching a level by the
end of the Course that you can move to any of our regular classes, you get a 52-page full-colour book of each week's exercises, as well as a weekly video to watch of the week's class exercises for you to practise at home between classes. You simply can not get a better introduction to group matwork Pilates.
Pelvic Floor Workshop Did you know that 1 in 3 women, and 1 in 10 men have an issue with their pelvic
floor? Or that pelvic floor problems are the second most common reason for people having to go into care homes? These are alarming statistics, don't you think? To help us all keep things down below in check, our JTP Pelvic Floor Specialist Cara is running another of her very successful Pelvic Floor Workshops in November. As always, it is a five week course, starting 10 November. If you're interested, please reply to this Newsletter for more information. Spaces are
limited.
Quorn Monday Classes Finally, just a note to say that the replacement classes in lieu of those cancelled on Monday 8 October at Quorn Village Hall due to the heating being broken, will be held on Monday 29 October.
I hope this week brings you joy and hope, keep your body moving and keep focusing on the good ... one step at a time.

Here is a short routine for you to practise this week while classes are taking a break. It is a very traditional routine of Pilates exercises, but works around the whole body. It was a workout which formed part of my online Countdown to Christmas Programme a
couple of years ago, and if any of you would be interested in more online programmes I would love to hear from you.
As with all of our Exercise Of The Weeks, please work at the appropriate level for your body and keep away from pain. During the video I do include modifications.
Feel the difference, move differently, and look more balanced.

Peace
It does not mean to
be in a place where there is no trouble, noise, or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.
Lady Gaga
I love this quote from Lady Gaga. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if amongst noise, chaos, being busy, we were able to remain calm in our hearts. How can we manage that, or is it even possible?
I think the starting point is an awareness of yourself,
your feelings, your thoughts, your beliefs, your behaviour. When there is a lot going on, become aware of the effect that this is having on you, your mind and your body. Are there things you can practise to help to stay calm in your heart?
I would like to share something I am practising at the moment to become calm in my heart, and in some ways it is meditational but it doesn’t need to be done in isolation, it can be done at any time, any place. Here it
is:
- close your eyes
- focus on your breath
- as you focus on the breath think about the body top to toe
- start with top of the head — be aware of any feelings there, tingling, tension
- move to the face and do the same working through the whole body
- neck
- shoulders
- chest
- torso
- pelvis
- right arm
- left arm
- right leg
- left
leg
All the time breathing steadily, and being aware of how each part of the body is feeling, repeat the cycle, all the time focusing on the breath and thinking about what you are feeling.
Practise this for a few minutes and see the effect it has — ask yourself then if you are feeling calm in your heart.

It's the second half-term week, so there's not much running this week. There's a new Absolute Beginners Course starting on Saturday 27 October, as well as the Mindful Movement Event (free to anyone who comes to classes or sessions
with us), and that's it. There's a few more classes starting up next week (from 29 October) before everything gets back into action on 5 November.
Book a Catchup/Missing Class
If you know you will have to miss a class in your course for any reason, want to let us know or would like to book a
space in another class instead, just follow the link to register it. Our Glamourous Assistant Karen runs the Catchups system, and this link is the quickest, most direct means (it's even faster than emailing her!) of letting Karen and your class Coach know.
Simply tell us the class you will miss and — most important if you want to book a Catchup — please give us as many alternatives as possible. If you only
give us one alternative, we cannot guarantee you will get a Catchup.
Please let us know if you will miss your class but don't want a Catchup — the whole Catchups system relies on knowing when spaces will occur.
Finally, please don't just tell your class class Coach you will be missing a class, as your Coach is not aware of Catchups spaces and has no means of
registering your space. Karen needs to know, and the link here (it's also at the bottom of our website too) is the best and fastest way to let Karen know.
