Two very important items of news for you this week. First a class issue — Saturday's class in Quorn is not in the Village Hall as usual, as we can't have the Hall on 6 and 13 October. Instead the class will be in the Old School in Quorn on those dates. More details below in the This Week's Classes section.
Second, as you'll already be aware of if you read the Newsletter last week, October is a
sabbatical for me (and Keith), as we are relinquishing the business reins for the month. That's not to say you won't get your Pilates though — we have an exceptional team around us so all classes will be running as planned. Two weeks of the month are actually half-term anyway, and you will get the Newsletter regularly, as we will pre-prepare these in advance, so it's not as long away from things as you might think.
However, it does mean that the Office is taking an
extended closure over the period, so if you contact JTP by phone or email you will only hear a recorded message or receive an autoresponse email to say that you will not get a reply for the duration.
The fact we're away from the day-to-day running of JTP is not to say that emails and phone messages won't be monitored, and someone will respond to messages if absolutely required. Anything else will be answered on our
return.
Please remember though that absence notifications and Catchup request should come only through the correct Catchups link (see below) or they will likely be missed.
I hope this week brings you joy and hope. Keep your body moving and keep focusing on the good ... one step at a time.

The week's Exercise Of The Week is a breakdown of the Single Leg Stretch. It's on old video actually — just look at that straight hair... hahaha — from the time when I only used to do an exercise each month (you now get a new exercise every week, you lucky things...).
As you'll see, the Single Leg Stretch is a mutli-levelled exercise — you don't have to do it full tilt at any time — you should instead do it at a level that suits you.
The video builds the exercise up level by level, and it ends up as a very tough exercise. As always though, please work at the appropriate level for your body. And — most important — make sure you have each level's basics correct before you step up to a higher level. There is no point in doing the
exercise flat-out if your technique is incorrect — you will certainly not get the full benefit of the exercise, and you may even do yourself damage.
Feel the difference, move differently, and look more balanced.

I am always telling everyone in my JTP team that they must make sure they do regular continuous personal development, to top up their already great knowledge and fantastic abilities. Some of this comes from the Pilates CPD modules I coach for the training wing of JTP — First Class Pilates —
to teach qualified Pilates teachers such as all my JTP team how to incorporate Pilates equipment such as Reformer, Wunda Chair, Tower and so on into their own coaching of clients, but also I nudge them in the directions of other Pilates training organisations' modules and business coaching events. It's always great to have alternative points of view.
CPD after all is one of the best ways to expand your knowledge, reinforce your abilities, and learn new ways of doing
things. The team all appreciate this — they know they will come back refreshed, with great new ideas that help everyone in the JTP team and, in turn, help you all as our valued clients. After all, it's why the exercises you do in classes are rarely the same over time, as we try out new techniques and tips learned while on CPD.
But that works for me too. Just because JTP is my business, it doesn't mean I don't need CPD as much as everyone else in the JTP team. And
that's why part of my month's sabbatical is so that I can attend my business coach's late-summer training weekend (this coming weekend). We go to these events regularly, and it's always an opportunity to take a top-down perspective of our business — but they give me and Keith time to reflect on how the business can move forward over time, and by doing that help more and more people with our brand of Pilates. We are really looking forward to the weekend, and also looking forward to bringing what
we learn and experience into JTP.
I'll keep you all posted how our CPD goes.

All classes — matwork and Reformer — are running as planned, all in their correct venues (with one exception), on the correct days and times.
The exception is that Saturday's Quorn matwork class will be
held on Saturdays 6 & 13 October in the Old School in Quorn (ie, NOT the Village Hall). If you don't know the Old School, there'a a map and directions in the venues link below.
Book a Catchup/Missing Class
If you know you will have to miss a class in your course for any reason, want to let us know or would like to book a
space in another class instead, just follow the link to register it. Our Glamourous Assistant Karen runs the Catchups system, and this link is the quickest, most direct means (it's even faster than emailing her!) of letting Karen and your class Coach know.
Simply tell us the class you will miss and — most important if you want to book a Catchup — please give us as many alternatives as possible. If you only
give us one alternative, we cannot guarantee you will get a Catchup.
Please let us know if you will miss your class but don't want a Catchup — the whole Catchups system relies on knowing when spaces will occur.
Finally, please don't just tell your class class Coach you will be missing a class, as your Coach is not aware of Catchups spaces and has no means of
registering your space. Karen needs to know, and the link here (it's also at the bottom of our website too) is the best and fastest way to let Karen know.
