In June this year, Corinne Ferraby-Smith, a friend and a class participant died from an inoperable brain tumour.
For those of you who attended class with Corinne and knew her, you will remember what a positive, friendly person she was. She had been ill for
approximately 12 months from when the tumour was first diagnosed to when she died.
During that time I was lucky enough to visit her and we talked about what she was doing with her family, particularly Kelvin her husband and her boys, so that she didn’t waste a single moment.
Over this last weekend it has been the SU2C — Stand Up To Cancer — campaign on Channel 4 and during the programmes being shown on Friday evening, they showed some extremely
sad stories of people who had died after suffering from different cancers. What we probably aren’t aware is that only 1% of cancer research funding goes to brain tumours, despite the fact that they kill more children and adults under 40 years of age than any other cancer.
Kelvin has been in touch with news that he and the boys are going to do a fun bike ride to Wells-next-the Sea — which was one of Corinne’s favourite places — and they are hoping to raise as much
as possible for Brain Tumour research. If you knew Corinne, or you would like to donate
here is the link.
Occasionally we are reminded about how precious time is and that even with the best laid plans we can never know what might happen tomorrow. So live your life, and don’t waste time,
because your life is here and now.
