This week I was reminded of how frustrating it can be when something is happening that is completely out of my control. The whole issue we are having getting our emails through to some of you at the moment is driving us crazy.
We rely heavily on being able to contact our JTP family via email and a lot of emails are being placed into some of your Junk Mail or Spam folders. Apart from the frustration it is causing in that when we send out emails we never really know if they are getting through, the worst part of this is that we have no way of controlling it — it is totally down to your email provider. The culprit — currently — is Gmail.
In short — if you have a Gmail (aka Googlemail) email address please keep checking your Junk Mail or Spam folders for our emails — particularly if you are expecting a reply from us — and make sure that you continue to mark our emails as Not Junk, and also make sure our email addresses are in your Contacts list. Hopefully, eventually Gmail will get the message.
The problem is one way! We are receiving your emails perfectly well. It is our emails to you that aren't reaching your Gmail Inbox.
Our Newsletters come from a mailing list, which is why you may be receiving this with no problem, but are receiving nothing from us directly.
So the control is the thing, and this can cover a whole manner of situations: illness, weather conditions, night and day, appliances going wrong … so how do we let go of those feelings of frustration when we don’t have any control?
Acceptance is the thing, it is only when we can accept that we cannot control every situation, that we can learn to deal with our frustration.
When I work out how to do this, I will let you know!
