Firstly, my nephew and his wife Sam and Grace had a little girl last week. All are well and they have named her Merida Ellen. An unusual name so I looked it up and it means brave or pearl — either are wonderful, and I am very happy for them and for my sister June and brother-in-law Roger who have become Grandparents for the first time.
Secondly, we seem to have had a lot of illness among the team of late, so apologies if you are having a different Coach to take your class. I realise that as class participants we get used to seeing the same Coach and we like how they teach and get very comfortable with what they do with us. However, thinking positively, it does mean that you meet more members of the team, and it is nice to see the differences that each Coach brings to their class. It is also really beneficial for our body
to give it a little ‘surprise’ sometimes when we perform something different or we feel a different focus for the exercises. We always try not to cancel classes because we recognise consistency and continuity with your Pilates is vital to keeping our body active and moving.
On this note, this is one of the reasons I send out an Exercise Of The Week every week with the Newsletter, and also sometimes I put on short routines, or — as I did recently — I posted a full hour’s class. Because I recognise that some people sometimes have problems getting to class regularly, or have extended breaks and holidays during our class timetable, so the free weekly exercise or routine can travel with you and is there at any time for you to do and join in with.
Have a great week being consistent, keep looking, moving and feeling good.

A 15 minute routine this week for everyone. I do give some modifications of some of the exercises, so please watch the video first and choose the appropriate level for your body.
Keep away from pain and if you feel unsure about any of the routine please check in with your class Coach.
This routine formed part of one of my online groups a couple of years ago and it was a set of routines that went out over 12 days leading up to Christmas.
If you are interested in an online programme please let me know.
Feel the difference, move differently, and look more balanced.

Consistency and continuity is one of the important parts when practising Pilates. I know that we have busy lives and finding time each day to invest in our wellbeing can sometimes become stressful in itself. That is why my Exercise Of The Week is never usually longer than 20 minutes — to try
and encourage and motivate each and everyone of you to do a little something every day. Even Joseph Pilates believed that 10 minutes a day was better than one hour a week, and I certainly recognise a difference in myself if I miss my daily Pilates fix. However, it is rare for me to do more than a maximum of 30 minutes a day, I feel lucky if I can get to a class and do a full hour, but if I miss my 10 minute fix I really do notice the difference in the quality of my movement.
However, consistency and continuity are important in all aspects of our wellbeing, whether it is meditation, playing a musical instrument, learning a new skill — it all takes practice. What also happens when we perform things consistently is that we use and tap into different parts of our brain which in itself is healthy and healing.
The regularity and practice isn’t necessarily about becoming perfect with what we are doing, it is about giving our brain and our body that time to connect and focus on something different, something which allows us to put ourselves in a different mindset. Whether it be an activity such as walking, painting, carving wood, playing an instrument, knitting, getting crafty, writing, consistency counts and can make the difference to our wellbeing, to our whole self.

All classes — matwork and Reformer — are running as planned, all in their correct venues, at the correct days and times — except the Saturday 24 November Quorn class. This is once again in the Old School (not the Village Hall).
Book a Catchup/Missing Class
If you know you will have to miss a class in your course for any reason, want to let us know or would like to book a
space in another class instead, just follow the link to register it. Our Glamourous Assistant Karen runs the Catchups system, and this link is the quickest, most direct means (it's even faster than emailing her!) of letting Karen and your class Coach know.
Simply tell us the class you will miss and — most important if you want to book a Catchup — please give us as many alternatives as possible. If you only
give us one alternative, we cannot guarantee you will get a Catchup.
Please let us know if you will miss your class but don't want a Catchup — the whole Catchups system relies on knowing when spaces will occur.
Finally, please don't just tell your class class Coach you will be missing a class, as your Coach is not aware of Catchups spaces and has no means of
registering your space. Karen needs to know, and the link here (it's also at the bottom of our website too) is the best and fastest way to let Karen know.
