Welcome to another week in the world of JTP!
I just have a few things to mention this week. First, it would seem that we are heading into a cold spell so make sure you wear layers of clothing as some of our venues do tend to feel colder, particularly in the bigger halls that we use. We have contacted those venues to ask for help regarding the heating of the rooms, so I am hopeful that they will be pleased to try and provide a warmer environment for us to use.
If the weather gets so bad that we have to cancel classes, we will display any classes cancelled prominently at the top of the website, so the website is always your first stop if you are wondering whether your class is running or not due to snow etc.
As we move through the winter there is always the threat of conditions worsening of course — even beyond the snow forecast this week — so it's worth taking a look at our inclement weather policy. It's also on the website, towards the bottom of the Classes page.
The second thing is — I just want to remind everyone about our Catchup system for our matwork classes. We try to operate this for the whole JTP community to give people some flexibility around holidays and other commitments. It means that you don’t have to miss out on your regular matwork Pilates class. However, I recognise that not everyone wants to use the Catchup system, which is absolutely fine. Most people who attend our classes do use it and feel it is important to try and not miss
their class. So please can I ask that even if you aren’t interested in attending a Catchup class, could you just let Karen know via the Catchup form when you will not be attending? This will mean she is able to offer those spaces out to others who do want to take the opportunity of a Catchup class. The Catchup form is absolutely the best and fastest method to register the class you'll miss (even better than emailing her directly) — and you'll find the link to the Catchup form at the
bottom of this Newsletter, at the bottom of the website, and at the bottom of our emails.
TUESDAY 5.45 AND 6.45PM CLASSES AT ROSEBERY STREET — EARLY WARNING
Neither of these classes will run on 5 February. Replacement classes will be held on Tuesday 26 February.
Have a great week folks, keep looking, moving and feeling good.

As the weather is getting colder, I thought this week would be a good opportunity to share a short standing routine for you to practise. You can use all the Pilates principles and not have to go on the floor at all. This will challenge your core with balance work, and then if you add some roll downs onto the end of this sequence, some side stretches and spine rotations you will have a short routine which works your core, your hips, and the mobility of the spine.
Work at the appropriate level for your body, if you need help with balance use a chair or a wall for added stability.
Feel the difference, move differently, and look more balanced.

Do you know where your Happy place is? I am currently reading a book called Happy by Fearne Cotton, who is extremely honest in talking about her own mental health issues. It is an interesting read and talks about how we assess our happiness. We can feel that happiness may be
just around the corner, or that we will be happy once we have moved house, changed job, got a new car … but while all of these would make you feel happy — is that happiness? They make you feel happy in that moment but would that be long lasting happiness?
Is it possible to be happy all the time? Is this even realistic? I think feeling happy is a perfectly normal emotion, but so too is feeling sad, angry, irritated, frustrated. It is more realistic to look at our emotions on a sliding scale, and think about our happiness as being on a spectrum. We can live a happy life, and at any time we may feel a burst of happiness when something happens, or when things change, or we can head to the other end of the spectrum and feel sad, angry, irritated,
but still within the happy life that we live.
The important part of this is that we shouldn’t be putting our happiness on hold — don’t be waiting for something to happen that might make us feel happy. Look at your life now, identify what brings you joy, makes you smile, warms your heart, and this is your place to go when you need to remind yourself of what happiness means to you.

Book a Catchup/Missing Class
If you know you will have to miss a class in your course for any reason, want to let us know or would like to book a
space in another class instead, just follow the link to register it. Our Glamourous Assistant Karen runs the Catchups system, and this link is the quickest, most direct means (it's even faster than emailing her!) of letting Karen and your class Coach know.
Simply tell us the class you will miss and — most important if you want to book a Catchup — please give us as many alternatives as possible. If you only
give us one alternative, we cannot guarantee you will get a Catchup.
Please let us know if you will miss your class but don't want a Catchup — the whole Catchups system relies on knowing when spaces will occur.
Finally, please don't just tell your class class Coach you will be missing a class, as your Coach is not aware of Catchups spaces and has no means of
registering your space. Karen needs to know, and the link here (it's also at the bottom of our website too) is the best and fastest way to let Karen know.
