Post wedding day celebrations for my son, I am relaxing and trying to come down from the high of a wonderful weekend.
The weather was perfect and the day was amazing. George and Amy had such a brilliant day full of happiness and love, it was great. Thank you to everyone who sent best wishes for the day, it was very much appreciated and a lovely feeling to know that so many people were thinking about us.
However, I am back into work mode today, catching up with some emails and getting all things Jane Thomas Pilates done.
I would just like to shout out about my latest look into podcasts, I sent out a short trial podcast last week, and I would love you to start to listen. It can be found in a number of places Spotify, Pocket Casts, Overcast, Google Podcasts, Anchor, Breaker, RadioPublic … Anyway, I have only put one out so far but I do intend to continue with this. Search for Jane Thomas Pilates and have a listen, if nothing else it might make you laugh.
Classes
There aren’t any classes this week as we finish the Easter break. Look out for our summer timetable though shortly as this is in its final stages of being organised.
Finally — for Absolute Beginners
We have a brand new matwork Absolute Beginners Course starting next week — on Wednesdays at 5pm, in Rosebery Street Medical Centre, Loughborough. Our matwork Absolute Beginners Courses are — quite simply — the very best way to start matwork Pilates. You will be in a very small class, where everyone in the class is at the very same absiolute beginners level, you have a dedicated Beginners Pilates Coach teaching you, with a 52-page full-colour booklet of the exercises you do in each week's
class, and a video of each week's class to watch and practise at home. We know that there is no better way to bring Pilates into your life...
Also, after the matwork Absolute Beginners Course you will be able to join any of our regular matwork classes (assuming space) around the local area.
I can't rave about our matwork Absolute Beginners Course enough, so if you are looking to learn Pilates, or if you know someone who is, then the time to join us is now. There are still some spaces in the Course.
Have a great week everyone — keep looking, moving and feeling good.
Jane, Keith and the team xx

I am showing an exercise which will be weight bearing, will challenge your deep stabilising muscles, and will give you mobility of the spine — all without being stressful to the wrists and the knees.
Think of this as a modification to quadruped Superman work — try to work on performing between 8-10 repetitions for each side. Work appropriately for your body and keep away from pain.
Feel the difference, move differently, and look more balanced.

Whenever I have time off from teaching I always head into the holiday with big expectations about what I am going to be able to achieve, like painting and decorating the spare room, decluttering the kitchen cupboards, finally sorting out my filing cabinets. I feel like I am going to have lots
of time for myself and will be able to achieve all of this which I can’t do when I am working.
Of course this doesn’t always work out — it is the ideal but not the reality.
I start to find the time being given away to other things like catching up with people I haven’t seen for a while, sitting and watching box sets, having more time in bed in the morning reading ... While this all sounds wonderful I suddenly find myself feeling frustrated and irritable because my intention at the start of the holiday was to get all of my jobs done … and now I am not meeting my intentions.
So what does this say about me? I forget about the need for my brain to relax and switch off.
While I recognise that getting those jobs done will provide me with a sense of joy and achievement, I also have to remember the importance of allowing myself time for other things that fill my heart and soul and that link the mind and body, and provide for my whole self.
You may also have set yourself some targets over the Easter break, starting with high expectations and intentions to do the one thing that you have been putting off or not finding the time to do in the normal routine of the week. But what I am saying is don’t make this one thing your focus for the holiday, don’t get frustrated if it doesn’t get done, or completed, or you don’t do as much as you thought you would achieve, because sometimes time to just stop and relax and switch the brain off
is more important.
This is your time to stop, breathe, relax and enjoy.

All classes start back to a full timetable next week beginning Monday 29 April.
Book a Catchup/Missing Class
If you know you will have to miss a class in your course for any reason, want to let us know or would like to book a
space in another class instead, just follow the link to register it. Our Glamourous Assistant Karen runs the Catchups system, and this link is the quickest, most direct means (it's even faster than emailing her!) of letting Karen and your class Coach know.
Simply tell us the class you will miss and — most important if you want to book a Catchup — please give us as many alternatives as possible. If you only
give us one alternative, we cannot guarantee you will get a Catchup.
Please let us know if you will miss your class but don't want a Catchup — the whole Catchups system relies on knowing when spaces will occur.
Finally, please don't just tell your class class Coach you will be missing a class, as your Coach is not aware of Catchups spaces and has no means of
registering your space. Karen needs to know, and the link here (it's also at the bottom of our website too) is the best and fastest way to let Karen know.
