First week back and there is a Bank Holiday Monday already !!! Because Easter was quite late this year it feels like we are always having days off … and we are I’m afraid. Apologies go out to all the Monday classes, obviously we have calculated these dates into our yearly calendar and planned replacement classes in to ensure you don’t miss out. You can always do this week’s Exercise Of The Week to make up for missing your class today.
There is also a gap in the Reformer class timetable this week, enabling Catchups for any that have been cancelled due to Coach illness/holidays etc.
Plus here we are in May — a month that I always love because it just means something new is happening … flowers and shrubs in the garden, lighter nights, sunny days, blue skies, a desire to sort out cupboards and declutter … well at least this is what it does for me. So I am spending my Bank Holiday weekend emptying my kitchen cupboards and getting rid of all those gadgets I have bought over the years that I have probably used once!! I find this very therapeutic and for me it helps to clear
my mind as well, more about this in Your Whole Self below.
However you are spending your Bank Holiday I hope you are with the people you love, doing the stuff you love to do.
Have a fantastic week folks — keep looking, moving and feeling good.

This current block of classes I am focusing on bone health. We have to keep our muscles strong in order to keep our bones healthy, so I am working with resistance, gravity, oppositions, and low level impact in order to create exercises that will benefit our bones.
In this week's Exercise Of The Week I give you a little taste of some of the things we have been doing in class.
Remember not to rush anything, and work at an appropriate level for your body, plus you don’t have to get out of your pyjamas, you don’t have to step out of your front door, you can just play the video and do it.
The video lasts approximately 15 minutes. I use a resistance band to create resistance, but you can do all the exercises and movement without and still gain some benefits. Would love to hear if you would like more of these kind of routines to do at home.
Feel the difference, move differently, and look more balanced.

This year one of my intentions was to make things simpler … It felt like we had gone through a few crazy years and I just felt I wanted to change things and calm things down a bit.
So since January I have been looking at my life and gradually decluttering both physically and emotionally.
I have spent time sorting through clothes and giving things away to charity shops that have been sitting in my cupboards and drawers for at least 12 months and not been used. As I have already mentioned, I have started to sort out my kitchen cupboards and getting rid of gadgets I haven’t used for over a year, boxing up pots and pans that we no longer use and hopefully find another home for them. I have also looked at my exercise routine and realised how much pressure I have been
putting on myself to do it and feeling disappointed when yet again I fail to get to the gym.
Somehow my starting point of decluttering and making my living environment more simple is having a deeper, knock on effect to my emotional wellbeing. The less I have in my cupboards the easier and simpler my life feels. If I want a certain t-shirt to wear I no longer have to search through my drawers, wasting so much time trying to find one that matches. If I want to use a certain pot to cook in I no longer have to empty the cupboard to find it. I just feel that as I throw out stuff I no
longer have a use for I am also throwing out thoughts and feelings that I no longer need. Its about emptying and creating space where there hasn’t been space for a long time. Space for me to move, space for me to just be, space that hasn’t been available as I realise I have been hanging on to things for too long.
I realise that it's not just about the old pair of jeans I haven’t been able to fit into for two years: it's about the feelings that this brings when I open my cupboard and see them hanging there. It's not just about the cake tins I have in my bottom kitchen drawer that I haven’t used since two Easters ago, its about the feelings and thoughts I have when I open the drawer and realise that I haven’t made a cake for anyone for a very long time. It's not about getting to the gym and exercising
3/4 times a week because I work in the fitness industry and think I should.
So how does all this relate to my intention of making things simpler? Well, by getting rid of the pressure of seeing the jeans that don’t fit, or the gadgets that I don’t use, or the cake tins that I don’t bake in, or the gym clothes I am not wearing, I am giving myself a chance. I am allowing myself space to make things simpler. I don’t have to make cakes, I don’t have to have a spiralizer, I have other clothes that do fit, I can choose exercises that I love and actually want to do at
home. I am decluttering my life of everything complicated.
I am making my life simpler.

Book a Catchup/Missing Class
If you know you will have to miss a class in your course for any reason, want to let us know or would like to book a
space in another class instead, just follow the link to register it. Our Glamourous Assistant Karen runs the Catchups system, and this link is the quickest, most direct means (it's even faster than emailing her!) of letting Karen and your class Coach know.
Simply tell us the class you will miss and — most important if you want to book a Catchup — please give us as many alternatives as possible. If you only
give us one alternative, we cannot guarantee you will get a Catchup.
Please let us know if you will miss your class but don't want a Catchup — the whole Catchups system relies on knowing when spaces will occur.
Finally, please don't just tell your class class Coach you will be missing a class, as your Coach is not aware of Catchups spaces and has no means of
registering your space. Karen needs to know, and the link here (it's also at the bottom of our website too) is the best and fastest way to let Karen know.
