Last week was our first full week getting back to our regular matwork timetable, so I hope you are all enjoying getting back into a routine with your classes. It has been lovely to see everyone catching up with news and what's been happening over the Summer.
Some of the highlights for me included seeing two of my class participants becoming grandparents again and this time to their daughter and son-in-law adopting a little baby boy — such a huge amount of joy and happiness that this has brought to their family … and it was so lovely for them to share that with me and the other class participants — it was just wonderful and quite emotional.
Also I welcomed one of the JTP Team — Cara Tatterton — to my podcast and we chatted all about Pelvic Floor health, her Workshops, and also I found something out about Cara that maybe not many people will know… It's a great informative chat and well worth a listen — just search for Jane Thomas Pilates in your favourite podcast app, or even just Google it.
Coming up this week in class we have isotoner rings (or the magic circles depending on how you feel about them), foam rollers, soft balls, bands, and now booty bands … plus Gem is using a mix of small props in her new Back Care Workshops that have just started.
The Reformer timetable gets back into full swing this week with all the regular Reformer classes, but also a few brand-new Reformer classes added to the mix — see below.
It all feels very exciting starting back with everything new that's happening this year, so I hope you feel we are providing you with the classes you need. We would love to hear from you if you have any specific ideas you would like us to look at.
New Reformer Classes
It appears that the more new Reformer classes we arrange, the more they're in demand... With this in mind we are planning three new Reformer classes to start soon. First is a Beginners Reformer class — starting this week on Wednesday at 6pm.
Second, we hope to start another Beginners Reformer class on Wednesdays lunchtimes at 12.30pm.
Finally, we are planning an Intermediate Reformer class (ideal for those who already do one Reformer class, but want to start a second) on Wednesdays at 7.15pm.
Reply to this Newsletter — giving your mobile number — if you would like more details about any of these great, new Reformer classes, or want to join us for Reformer Pilates.
Silver Swans
Zoe, one of the JTP Team — apart from being a great Pilates Coach — is also a Classical Ballet Teacher who trained with the Royal Academy of Dance, and is also a licensed Teacher of Silver Swans, a programme designed by the RAD for the over 55s.
The Silver Swans programme is a wonderful blend of classical ballet and gentle fitness. So, if you're looking for something new to try, maybe you have never danced a step, or perhaps you did some dancing when you were young but not since — then Silver Swans could be right up your street.
Zoe's first Silver Swans classes are in Rosebery Street Medical Centre, Loughborough (in the Old Infants School Hall, where our Loughborough matwork Pilates classes are held), and are on Thursdays from 10.30am–11.30am
Zoe is offering Free Introductory Classes for newcomers, and you can also drop-in to classes or book your classes in blocks. Please just click the photo here to get more information, or just reply to this Newsletter — remembering to include your mobile number.
Have a great week folks — keep looking, moving, and feeling good!

Just a short routine this week, approximately 15 minutes, which includes some standing mobility and stretch and then getting down on the mat for some strength, stamina and mobility.
Work at the appropriate level for your body and keep away from pain.
Feel the difference, move differently, and look more balanced.

Depression is a big word isn’t it? We hear it, we talk about it, we hear celebrities share and talk about their own journey with it, and we are constantly told that we are more understanding of it than we used to be. GPs take it seriously now, and work places are having to include strategies
in their operation manuals to help staff who may live with it.
I have experienced episodes of depression, and I have seen other members in my family struggle with their own mental health issues. One of the problems that accompanies depression can be a feeling of shame, a heavy burden of shame that attacks the self-worth and wraps the mind up in a huge blanket of misery. It can be like carrying a very full bag on your shoulder, that you want people to think contains your sandwiches and a drink, your phone and a lipstick … when actually it is full of
your own grim feelings of shame and sadness. Eventually this bag becomes too heavy to carry, it needs to be taken off of the shoulder and emptied but this isn’t easy. What it doesn’t need is anyone adding to this burden of shame by giving you some of theirs … by somehow expressing a disappointment often wrapped up in a smile, or under a disguise of advice, or solving some of your problems for you.
One thing I know for sure, you cannot do it alone, seek out help, find someone to speak to who makes you feel safe, and who will hear what you are saying without judgement. Speak it aloud, because no-one should feel they have to carry this burden alone in silence. The truth is we probably all carry a little bit of shame, this is normal, just don’t let it grow and fill up your bag, empty it out there, spread it out on the floor, let other people see it and help you to clear it, then pick up
your bag and continue on your journey.

Book a Catchup/Missing Class
If you know you will have to miss a class in your course for any reason, want to let us know or would like to book a space in
another class instead, just follow the link to register it. Our Glamourous Assistant Karen runs the Catchups system, and this link is the quickest, most direct means (it's even faster than emailing her!) of letting Karen and your class Coach know.
Simply tell us the class you will miss and — most important if you want to book a Catchup — please give us as many alternatives as possible. If you only give us
one alternative, we cannot guarantee you will get a Catchup.
Please let us know if you will miss your class but don't want a Catchup — the whole Catchups system relies on knowing when spaces will occur.
Finally, please don't just tell your class class Coach you will be missing a class, as your Coach is not aware of Catchups spaces and has no means of registering
your space. Karen needs to know, and the link here (it's also at the bottom of our website too) is the best and fastest way to let Karen know.
