Back in action this week, with some classes running that for reasons such as sickness, venue changes and so on had to be rearranged, so please check the timetable at the bottom of this Newsletter.
We have just one space left in our Absolute Beginners Workshop which is due to start on Tuesday 29th October, at 9.30am. This course is for three weeks only, and is intense as it is just for four people. It is designed to provide the best possible introduction to Pilates. Once this course has been completed then it is possible to join one of our regular timetabled classes. Please get in touch if you haven’t yet started one of our classes, or pass on to a friend or family member who you think
will benefit from starting Pilates with us.
Have a great week folks — keep looking, moving and feeling good.

This week I am breaking down the Joseph Pilates classic exercise — The Double Leg Stretch.
This is a great exercise for challenging the strength of the core muscles, but also for mobility in shoulders and hips. I should also add that one of the great ways to exercise the body is to work in “oppositions” and this is a classic exercise for this.
If we think about Newton’s Laws of Motion:
Every action has an equal and opposite reaction
In a Double Leg Stretch, the lower body is moving in one direction and the upper body is pulling away in the opposite direction, creating a powerful force on the centre and therefore challenging stability and strength. But also the pull away from the centre creates length and a full range of movement with the muscles pulling on the joints. In the words of the great Bruce Forsyth: “You are my favourite” Double Leg Stretch.
As with every Exercise Of The Week, work at the appropriate level for your body. As I break this exercise down you will be able to discover what is the best level for your body.
Feel the difference, move differently, and look more balanced.

As you will know Keith and I have been away for a week’s holiday, and we revisited Cyprus where we both feel we can truly switch off and relax.
My issue is always with the packing!
I am a rubbish packer, in that I always leave it until the last minute and then can’t decide what to take and what not to take ... how many pairs of shorts? How many tops? Will I need anything “dressy” or will I just be in casual all the time?
So I have brought with me 3 pairs of shorts, 4 pairs of light trousers, 3 long skirts, 1 long dress, probably about 7 different, assorted tops, 3 swimming costumes, 3 pairs of shoes (plus trainers ... as I thought I might go for a run!!), oh yes and I packed my gym gear ... and this doesn’t even cover the underwear .... and Keith and I are having the same discussion we always do: “why have we brought so much? We must remember next year we won’t need to bring half the stuff ...”
Because:
This is what I have been wearing — 1 bikini, 1 swim suit, 1 pair of shorts, 1 pair of trousers, 1 pair of shoes, 1 dress (casual), 3 tops ... You see, if you rinse things through at night, they are dry by morning ... I haven’t been near my gym gear, my trainers, any of my “dressy” clothes as we have just lived a very casual, relaxed week ... which is pretty much what we always do — so why would it have been different this year?
So all that packing and weighing and worry that we are going over the luggage limits at the airport and be made to empty everything out to make things lighter ... I needn’t have bothered — all I needed were 2 swim suits, 1 pair of shorts, 1 pair of trousers, 1 pair of shoes, 1 dress (casual) and 3 tops ... when will I learn?
Ahh, Happy Holidays folks ...

As it's the second week of the half-term break, we still aren't back to a full timetable by any means, though we do have a few more classes running — catching up for those missed due to illness, venue changes, etc.
So check the Calendar above to see if your class is running... Note that — as already planned and those in the affected classes are already aware — Mary's Wednesday classes run on 23 October, but will not run on 30 October (as Mary is unavailable on that date).
We're back to a more-or-less full timetable next week — week beginning 28 October — as the half-term break will be over.
And then: it's only 58 days to xmas... not to panic you, of course!
Book a Catchup/Missing Class
If you know you will have to miss a class in your course for any reason, want to let us know or would like to book a space in
another class instead, just follow the link to register it. Our Glamourous Assistant Karen runs the Catchups system, and this link is the quickest, most direct means (it's even faster than emailing her!) of letting Karen and your class Coach know.
Simply tell us the class you will miss and — most important if you want to book a Catchup — please give us as many alternatives as possible. If you only give us
one alternative, we cannot guarantee you will get a Catchup.
Please let us know if you will miss your class but don't want a Catchup — the whole Catchups system relies on knowing when spaces will occur.
Finally, please don't just tell your class class Coach you will be missing a class, as your Coach is not aware of Catchups spaces and has no means of registering
your space. Karen needs to know, and the link here (it's also at the bottom of our website too) is the best and fastest way to let Karen know.
