So what has been happening in
the last week since we last spoke…?
Well, the sun has shone on a couple of days giving us blue skies and colder temperatures, but I don’t mind a blue sky and sunshine — however cold it is — you can always add an extra layer of clothing to keep warm and getting out to grab some Vitamin D is absolutely crucial to our general wellbeing.
Wellbeing Day
The planning for our Wellbeing Day on Saturday 4th January is underway and more details of this will follow in the Newsletter soon so that we can start the new year off with great intentions. We are hoping to present some new sessions to give a taste of the kind of work all the Coaches are involved with, plus a few surprises for the day.
Finally, the Exercise Of The Week continues below as we have 4 more days of Christmas to add. By the time we get to the 22nd December there will be a complete routine to work the whole body … look out for that — it's going to be great.
Have a great week folks — keep looking, moving and feeling good.
Jane, Keith, and the JTP Team xx
Continuing with the 12 days of Christmas theme, of course it is Days 5–8, so here they are. Remember to look at last week's Exercise Of The Week to see Days 1–4:
On the 5th Day of Christmas my true love gave to me —
5 Cat Stretches, 4 single leg curls, 3 swan dives, 2 swimming legs and a Pilates Roll down into Push up …. You get the picture ….
On the 6th Day of Christmas my true love gave to me —
On the 7th Day of Christmas my true love gave to me —
On the 8th Day of Christmas my true love gave to me —
Please remember to work at the appropriate level for your body.
Feel the difference, move differently, and look more balanced.
Over the last month I have been on a journey — not the Strictly Come Dancing journey — just a journey of learning acceptance.
Acceptance that life is unpredictable, and it doesn’t matter how much planning and organising is done, or how much happiness and positive experiences we have, the world will always have an unexpected and unpredictable challenge to throw at us.
As I have started to work on my ‘acceptance’ I have learnt several things:
- Be Patient — the testing time will pass, you just have to stay calm and be patient, accept that it may feel unpleasant for now, but it won’t last forever.
- Self Belief — when problems and challenges seem to be building up confidence can be dented, so at these times focus on how you have coped in the past, and keep believing in yourself.
- Assess the Situation — write it all down, use the opportunity to grow your problem solving skills and see what has been happening in black and white — this does help to take control of how you think and deal with things.
- Avoid Resentment — allow yourself to be upset for a while, but don’t let it continue for too long, set a timescale then let it go.
- Seek Advice — get a fresh viewpoint, even if it's different to the ‘gut instinct’ — get several viewpoints and think about why that is the case.
- Be Wise — don’t make snap decisions, think about how you might advise a friend from a happier, more positive point of view.
- Be Methodical — tackling one issue at a time, it isn’t possible to solve lots of difficult problems in one go, and this could only lead to overwhelm.
- Be Creative — remove yourself from the situation, go for a walk, play some music, get out in the garden, do the things that bring your creativity juices to the surface, but switch your brain off from the problems.
- Positive Outlook — choose positive, optimistic and honest people to spend time with because they are infectious and inspiring and this can be beneficial to how you feel about the world.
I do feel like this will be a continuous journey through life, but I wanted to share some of the things that have proven helpful so far.

All matwork classes are running as planned, all in their correct venues, at the correct days and times.
Reformer classes have finished for the term, however there are some Catchup classes running as replacements for missed classes earlier.
Book a Catchup/Missing Class
If you know you will have to miss a class in your course for any reason, want to let us know or would like to book a space in another class instead, just
follow the link to register it. Our Glamourous Assistant Karen runs the Catchups system, and this link is the quickest, most direct means (it's even faster than emailing her!) of letting Karen and your class Coach know.
Simply tell us the class you will miss and — most important if you want to book a Catchup — please give us as many alternatives as possible. If you only give us one alternative, we cannot
guarantee you will get a Catchup.
Please let us know if you will miss your class but don't want a Catchup — the whole Catchups system relies on knowing when spaces will occur.
Finally, please don't just tell your class class Coach you will be missing a class, as your Coach is not aware of Catchups spaces and has no means of registering your space. Karen needs to know, and the link here (it's also at the bottom of our website too) is the best and fastest way to let Karen know.
