One of the most important parts of my daily routine at the moment is getting out for a walk and doing some mindful breathing. I have found that this has been the one time in the day that has helped me to clear my mind and to help deal with my anxiety and stress based around Keith's illness.
I have been waking early and almost immediately I am planning what I have to fit in and what needs to be dealt with before I head over to the hospital to be with Keith.
So the walk first thing is just enough time for me to take in the environment, feel the air on my face, take some breaths and just feel the freedom of being outside.
I am usually joined by a robin on my walk, I always see a couple of squirrels, and often I pass dog walkers which always brings a smile to my face because of the joy I see being shared between them and their four legged friends.
Then its time for some mindful breathing, I try to be still in my garden for this. I find the stillness and peace calms my mind .. and I then feel stronger and prepared to face what the day will bring.
When everything else feels out of control, and when there are no easy answers or solutions to what is happening in our lives, I find that introducing some kind of routine to the day helps with my coping strategies and allows me to function and deal with whatever might happen.
I hope if you have challenges in your life at the moment that you will be able to find your own coping routine and bring you some peace and calm your mind.
