It’s been a week of talking, risk assessments, continuous professional development (CPD) and teaching for me, as I tried out the Wakeup With Jane sessions, which were just 30 minutes of movement at 8.00am Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Because teaching is my first love, let's start with that — I loved, loved, loved teaching the Wakeup With Jane sessions. It was great to get moving, see and chat with everyone who joined in and shared the joy, and also it did set us up for the day. I’m not sure how everyone who attended felt, but I certainly seemed to achieve more on those days. My body felt good, my mind felt awake and alert, and it gave me the purpose and good intention of
getting things done. I know those who attended would like more ... so this is definitely in the planning as I move the online timetable forward.
I have always found CPD to be important for my mental health and my teaching, and this week I started something very new for me ... I am going to keep it as a surprise as I see how I progress, but I am hoping to be able to share that very, very soon.
I carried out another Risk Assessment in a different venue this week, this time with Jenny. And yes I did take my retractable tape measure, and this time I escaped injury free, I am pleased to report.
Carrying out the risk assessments shows me how differently venues and people interpret the regulations… Ultimately everyone just wants to provide the safest environment and experience possible. On this note, I will be making an announcement about face-to-face classes in next week’s Newsletter, so you will hear it first here.
If you are reading this Newsletter and you are new to Pilates but maybe thinking about starting ... there may not be any Beginners classes going face-to-face yet, but you could start to get an understanding of the foundations and basics by heading to the Jane Thomas Pilates Facebook page, where all next week I will be sharing some short videos that take you through the important Principles of Pilates.
I love a Pilates principle, as once you have an understanding of these they can really help you connect the mind and body with the exercise programme.
