It’s funny how things have changed from pre-Covid-19 to now. People keep talking about the New Normal, but it’s really true for the JTP family.
Let me explain…
A mere eight months ago all our Studio sessions and Reformer classes were subsidised by JTP face-to-face classes. Now, the New Normal is that the Loughborough Studio and Reformer classes aren’t viable at all anymore — not even in a subsidised state — and any returning face-to-face classes are now subsidised by the JTP new entry: online classes. The online
classes are now our sole lifeline — without them the JTP New Normal would be a very different story for all the JTP Family — if indeed it had existed at all with Covid-19.
Don’t get me wrong — I count myself extremely fortunate that my business is still in operation (several of my colleagues in the wider fitness world have not been so fortunate). I also thank my lucky stars that Covid-19 has taken no toll on my personal family (so far 🤞), though I am deeply aware of a number of JTP clients who have sadly suffered very
personal Covid-19 consequences. Finally, words can’t express how thankful I am that Keith — who as you’ll know had a very serious illness early this year — is recovering well.
The New Normal for JTP is very different to the old one. Our face-to-face classes had been designed to be fully Covid-19 Secure, which meant that we could keep them going in whatever Covid-19 Alert Level Tier we found ourselves in — Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 — throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
The only provisos to keeping face-to-face classes open being:
- JTP clients want them
- the council or venue itself doesn’t close down (as in the case of Rushcliffe Council saying that no exercise classes can go ahead, thus effectively stopping our Rempstone Village Hall classes from 1 November)
- we don't enter another full lockdown. The news on Saturday of the pending lockdown potentially starting on Thursday this coming week leaves us in limbo until we find out whether exercise classes will be allowed, or if it is indeed a full lockdown. We will keep the affected classes (in Rosebery Street Medical Centre and Old Woodhouse Hall) notified as soon as we get some guidance ourselves.
Plus, despite no longer having the Studio in Loughborough, I am now starting to book clients for one-to-one sessions in my garden Pod — a brand-new experience for me.
I know I won’t be the only one to live in a New Normal. What’s yours? Please let me know — so many people have such inspiring stories to tell.
Face-to-Face Classes
Obviously — as you will have already seen — it looks like we are going to have to cancel the new block of face-to-face classes in all venues before they start.
The new lockdown starts on Thursday. Obviously, we will keep everyone who has booked a space posted, as soon as we hear anything definite, however, the likelihood I think is that we will have to cancel face-to-face classes for the foreseeable future.
Let's all keep our fingers crossed, and — remember — Live and Recorded Online classes will be running — as is our New Normal — throughout a lockdown, so you never need to miss your Pilates whatever happens this week.
Talking of online classes...

My experiment last week live streaming classes in Zoom and FB at the same time didn't seem to make any difference for those attending.
Just for the next couple of weeks there won't be any Wakeup With Jane 30 minute sessions as I hold the 10-4-10 sessions instead — but the Out For Lunch sessions will be 30 minutes instead, as I know the length of this class is very popular.
