When I am teaching you will often hear me use the words move with purpose, and be conscious of your movement.
The reason I say this is because I want to encourage the feeling of the whole movement not just going through the motions of moving the body.
Having purpose and being conscious simply translates to being mindful and this can be transferred to every day life.
What has made me think about this more over the last few weeks, is watching my lovely daughter-in-law. As you know, her and my son George have a lovely baby who is just over 6 months old now, and as many of you will also know this means that you never really stop.
The other day, after watching her snatching a sip from her third cold cuppa of the day, before taking baby for a change of nappy… I felt a ‘granny’ intervention was necessary.
I realised Amy needed just a few minutes to consciously drink her coffee and take time to enjoy it, because it is only when we give ourselves this time out that we can continue to function at the level we need to at any given time.
And it need only take 5 minutes really for us to take that time to be conscious of what we are doing … it can be cleaning our teeth in the morning, or having a shower, OR it can be eating our breakfast … but by being conscious in that moment it allows us to engage with what we are doing, rather than going through the motions.
This can have a huge affect on how we feel, it leads to a feeling of calm, feeling revitalised and ready to continue.
Take those moments to be conscious this week.
