The Law of Attraction …
What is that all about?
It could be said that it is one of our universal laws, like the Law of Gravity … And basically it means ‘we are what we think’, ‘what we think, we become’ and ‘what we attract to ourselves in how we think and become’.
It’s much more than just being positive or thinking positively though, which is what I think a lot of us think we are supposed to do. If we think of our brains as being like a radio, and we are constantly tuning it into our favourite channels … and if we tune into a News channel then all we hear and see is news.
However, sometimes we can’t tune in and when we can’t find our channels all we hear is crackling and fuzziness and when this happens we find decision-making difficult, we don’t have any clarity, and no matter how hard we try we cannot find our channels. What has this got to do with the Law of Attraction? Well, it’s about learning how to tune our radio into
our favourite channels, using our natural filter system in our brain to find the clarity we need so that we think and feel differently.
Let’s take exercise as an example, when we might think I’m not sure whether or not to do any exercise today, I’m feeling a bit tired, and I’ve got lots to do then we start to get crackling and fuzziness — should I? shouldn’t I? — we haven’t tuned in our radio to the right channel to get the clarity about whether to
exercise or not, and the Law of Attraction will start to give us reasons to feel more tired, because our focus is that.
But what if we close our eyes and imagine ourselves getting ready to exercise, putting our kit on, getting our body moving, then once we have finished, having a shower, feeling pleased with ourselves for doing the exercise, feeling better in our physical self, but also those feel good hormones that exercise activates, being released around our mind and body
and making us feel energised so we can get on with our day? Recognise how this image makes us feel. Then imagine the alternative: feeling tired so just putting clothes on for the day, having to get on with jobs, that just make us feel more tired, and then feeling frustrated that another day has gone by and we haven’t done any exercise, so our mind and body haven’t benefited at all. Now how does this image make us feel?
If we focus on the image that gives us good feelings, happy feelings, light feelings, then we start to tune into a channel that is giving us clarity about how exercise makes us feel, and the Law of Attraction starts to bring us more of those feelings.
It takes practice, it’s not going to happen 100% of the time, and we will always hit some bumps in the road, but it will help us to think and feel differently about those bumps.
