In the week I was reminded of me playing my violin when I was younger and in particular playing The lark ascending by Vaughan Williams at a concert. I stopped playing my violin regularly some years ago, making the excuse that I didn’t have time.
How often do we use this excuse … not enough time?
The thing is, playing my violin was always something that gave me so much joy and pleasure and something that I found relaxing … so why have I stopped?
Good question!
It is something I love, it’s something that brings me joy, it’s something that allows me to switch off from everything else, it’s something just for me. So I should be MAKING TIME TO PLAY MY VIOLIN! Saying I don’t have time is an excuse — I can make time. And we should make time to do the things we love, because it feeds the soul, it feeds the heart, and it
feeds the mindset.
So think about the things that you have enjoyed doing in the past that you have stopped because you feel you don’t have time. Remember how those things used to make you feel, and remember the effect those feelings used to have on your life.
What’s to stop you starting again, getting back into it, whether it is painting, fishing, playing a musical instrument … whatever it might be, if it is something that brings you joy, then it’s time to make the time and bring it back into your life, and truly live your life.
