I had a day off in the week ... I didn’t have any live teaching booked, I didn’t have any coaching calls, and I really felt like I needed to get out of the house, have a change of scenery and not think about Pilates for a change.
We didn’t go very far, just down the road in fact, but the sun was shining, it wasn’t raining so Keith and I had take away bacon butties, coffee and sat on a bench near the river and just enjoyed the peace and quiet.
It was great, and when we did go home later in the day, it felt like we had been away for much longer. I felt my spirits lifted, my head had cleared, and felt immediately like my energy levels increased.
It proved a couple of things to me, firstly how important it is to make sure to take time out regularly from routine, so that it doesn’t feel like we are stuck on the ‘treadmill’ of life. And secondly, we don’t have to do BIG things to make the difference. It can be as simple as setting time aside, driving a couple of miles, finding a peaceful spot, taking
something to eat and drink and just enjoying the space and change of scenery.
